It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Juan Lopez‐ Murillo, 63, of Waco, who went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 14, 2025.

Visitation/w Rosary: 6-9pm Monday, February 24, 2025 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Mass: 11am Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2621 Bagby Ave. Waco. Burial to follow at Rosemound Cemetery.

Born on June 25, 1961, in Puerto de Sosa, GTO, Mexico, to Maria de Jesus Murillo Guia and Jose Lopez, Juan crossed the border into the United States at the young age of 17. He spent many years working in farming and ranching before transitioning to underground construction, where he dedicated over 30 years to Thunderbolt Utility until the day of his passing.

In his free time, Juan enjoyed spending time outdoors, watching soccer, especially his favorite team, Las Chivas, and listening to music. A devoted father, he cherished every moment spent with his children and grandchildren. Juan was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and ensure they had the life he believed they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world. Juan’s strength, kindness, love, and support were the foundation of his family.

Juan was preceded in death by his father and mother; siblings; Jose, Nieves Lopez; sister-in-law; Mary Ella Gonzales; brother-in-law; J. Carmen Murillo; tia, Paula Campos Lopez; and primo, Miguel Lopez.

He is survived by his children, Christopher, Juan Jr., Laura M., Sara J., Sandra V., and Julio Lopez; siblings, Pedro, Antonia, Ignacia, Salud, Maria de Luz, and Blanca Lopez-Murillo; grandchildren, whom he adored, Cristoval P. Castro III, Leilah F. Cisneros, Briana N. Castro, Alessia N. Castro, Alexander T. Castro, Juan B. Hernandez, Urijah N. Lopez, Trinidad Hernandez Lopez, Fabian L. Lopez, Nieves Hernandez Lopez, Mario A. Salinas, and Rosalina M. Salinas; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and coworkers.

Pallbearers will be Juan Lopez Jr., Leoncio Murillo-Lopez, Julio Omar Lopez, Cristoval Perez Castro III, Juan Baltazar Hernandez, and Philip Segerson.
