Footprints
One night I dreamed a dream.
As I was walking along the beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to me and one to my Lord.
After the last scene of my life flashed before me,
I looked back at the footprints in the sand.
I noticed that at many times along the path of my life,
especially at the very lowest and saddest times,
there was only one set of footprints.
This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.
“Lord, you said once I decided to follow you,
You’d walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life,
there was only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me.”
He whispered, “My precious child, I love you and will never leave you
Never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was then that I carried you.”

Condolences for the family of “Jann Elaine Downing”

Condolence from David SHelton on November 11th, 2019 11:07 am

I first met Jann Downing in 1995, her friendly and outgoing personality, made us instant friends. Over the years, like any other friendship, we had our differences in life, but our friendship remained. I watched her get married and she did the same, we always had a good joke going that the other had a fast car ” running for Mexico ” . I have so many fond memories of my dear friend Jann but one of my favorite times to recall would be her and I sitting up all night on the front porch talking and her eating ice cream and chili cheese fritos. We got lost on dirt roads and felt the wind in our hair, we shouted at the top of our lungs at each other and we remained friends. We saw kids and grandchildren grow up and wondered where the time went, we prayed for each other’s well being. Jann Downing taught me how to not only become a friend with her but how to become a friend to her. In the last few years our lives took us in different places and directions, but our hearts and minds were not very far away from each other. If I could ask Jann Downing to recall her favorite memory of me she would say dirt roads and I would have to sy “Y” and then I would get her famous ” I am going to get you… David ” look. I can honestly say that I love you Jann Downing and I will definitely miss you my dear friend. Until we all GO REST HIGH ON THE MOUNTAIN and you and I travel together down that last dirt road. Jann May GOD Bless You and May You Rest In Peace.

When Jann and my wife Judy first met they were not the best friends, they had a lot in common with each other but they were very different. Fast forward a couple of years and they become more than friends they were like sisters. We all need a friend who we can count on and Judy and Jann had that bond together. They were a part of each other’s weddings and a part of each other s lives. Jennifer I can only imagine how you feel right now, and what you are going through with this devastating tragedy, my heart goes out to you and your family
Our prayers are with you and your family in this difficult time.
