James L. Pearson, 67, of Chalk Bluff, passed away at his home on August 9, 2012, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be at 2PM Monday, August 13, 2012, at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with Tom Catchings officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8PM Sunday, August 12th at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online Guest Book at www.LakeShoreFuneralHome.com.

James was born Sept. 1, 1944, in Waco to Theda and W.D. (Pete) Pearson. He graduated from Connally High School in 1962 and attended MCC. On June 18, 1965, he married Lynn Taylor. They enjoyed 47 years together. He was the owner of Pearson Paint Shop from 1988 until 2006, and served as President of the Texas Chapter of the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America from 2002 until 2003.

James worshipped at Northside Church of Christ where he served as an elder. He loved singing and working in the missionary field in Jamaica. He loved the Jamaican people and especially Deverny Brissett, the preacher at Spalding Church of Christ.

James enjoyed outdoor sports including hunting and fishing. He was fond of going to the coast to fish with his brothers. He loved spending time with his sons and grandchildren. James was given the opportunity to know his grandchildren who were very special to him: Emily, Grant, Caleb, Gage, and Cameron. Gage and Cameron had not been born when James was diagnosed in 2006. Last year James baptized Emily in August and took his oldest grandson on his first deer hunt in November. All his grandchildren got to know and spend time with their Paw Paw. He was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather; and his memory will be cherished by all of us.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Theda Pearson.

James is survived by his wife, Lynn of Chalk Bluff; two sons, Steven and wife Missty of China Spring, and Chris and his wife Alyssa of Murphy; five grandchildren, Emily, Grant, Caleb, Gage, and Cameron; two brothers, W. E.

Booty, I don’t know if you remember me or not but I was in the Air Force, stationed at Connally back in early ’70s and remember your family well……I came to church several times there in Lacy Lakeview with Bynum Nelson and your family would have us join you for a very wonderful home cooked lunch!! Your mom and dad were so nice to do that for service guys and I have never forgotten it!! Sorry to hear of James’ passing, seems like you had another younger brother too, Larry I believe……I believe I heard somewhere that Bynum died too!! Well, just wanted to touch base with you, God Bless you…….I live in NC now which was and is my home state!!
