James Robert Oden, 61, of West Monroe, LA, formerly of Waco, passed away Monday, July 21st at his home. Memorial services will be 10AM Friday, August 1, 2008 at Parkview Baptist Church with Dr. John W. Collier officiating. Private inurnment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Jim was born on February 2, 1947 in Longview to Clifford Embree and Louise (Lightfoot) Oden. He graduated from Garland High School. He also was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. Jim was a library book salesman for Gum Drop Books of Bethany, MO and played an instrumental role in the donation gift of $15,000 worth of new books to Parkview Christian Academy. He loved his church, his family and his church family dearly.
Jim was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include mother, Louise Oden; sister, Virginia Collier; brothers, John David Oden and Michael Wayne Oden; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Parkview Christian Academy Library.

Just want to say that we have many memories of our days with Jimmy. We pray that God will provide comfort and encouragement to the family members.
Jimmy was a good friend during high school and although I have not seen him in years, the memories of him from those days are most pleasant. My condolences to the family and the assurance of knowing that he is with the Lord is most comforting. May the Lord be with you during this time.
