James Alfred Carnes, 77, of Waco, passed away February 21, 2016.

Memorial Service: 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 26 at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend Road, in Waco

Mr. Carnes was born December 10, 1938 in Youngstown, Ohio. He joined the US Navy in 1956 and retired in 1975 as a Chief Petty Officer. He also worked for the US Department of Veterans Affairs for 10 years before retiring from his second career.

Mr. Carnes married Ramona Carnes on June 20, 1980 and they celebrated 35 years together in a loving relationship. He was a wonderful husband and a loving father who enjoyed traveling, fishing, shooting and had a passion for collecting knives and guns, but family came first.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona; eight children, Janet Johnson, Sherry Gazloff, Carol Crymes, Angie Cleboski, Thomas Carnes, James Carnes, Jacqueline Wilkinson and Amanda Malone; 28 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and his three siblings, Ernest Carnes, Linda Woolbright and Ernie Carnes.

As his wish was to be cremated and his ashes spread out to sea by the US Navy, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory be directed to Fuzzy Friends Rescue, 6321 Airport Road, Waco, Texas 76708.
