Condolence from Bruce McAtee on February 28th, 2014 9:13 am

Rosemary, may God be with you and your family. I am saddened for you because I know that at this time in his life, he was just really getting the start on his adulthood. My oldest son’s 23rd birthday is today, so I can relate to you in this regard. I know that that there would be a huge empty void in my life as I know there will be with you.
May all the souls of the faithfully departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.

I knew Jacob at some of the best and the worst times. There were even some points where he was my should to cry on. I’ll never forget our camping trip. He went with my daughter Kaeleana and I to the camp grounds in Belton. We couldn’t find the right fluid for the lantern so we got camp fire fuel. Of course it was dark and starting to rain when we check in, and of course freezing. We needed more light, and in a hurry. We decided to fill it with what we had not really knowing the results. I looked at him and said you gotta light it. At this point the campers across the lake where obviously in need of comic relief and that what we were, because we could hear their laughter. After the sixth or seventh try, in the rain he was able to light a piece of paper. Kaele and I watched from about 100 yards away as Jacob lit our lantern. It was like a mini atomic bomb went off complete with boom. At this point park security are on their way and we received a help welcome gift of lantern fuel and laughs from our fellow campers. That was my little girls first camping trip and we took it with Jacob.
There were the countless road trips that he went with me on. He was an awesome navigator. Thank you so much for the wonderful memories that I get to pass on. I love you and miss you.

Condolence from John Redmon on February 28th, 2014 9:13 am

Jacob was my best friend growing up. God, we did some stupid stuff back in the day. We once tried to make a football field in the backyard and recruit a team (hey we thought it could happen); we went down a steep hill to the tank with a bike that had no brakes and crashed horribly! (and the last time we hung out, we still wonder why we did that); we once built a tree house outside the old house (well james did) but it was a sweet tree house!; jump the hay; got spooked from the old barn; bothered jeremy and jesse in their rooms – we never gave them a minutes peace; waited in line at the convenience store for over and hour so he could get his dollar back from the lottery ticket he won; almost got ran over by a stampede of cows!! What were we thinking?! Friends like him are the kind of people that you cherish in your heart for the rest of your life. I remember the last time we hung out at my apartment and the next day I drove him to work in temple where his construction team was renovating a restaurant. In 2007, he came to my college graduation and that meant a lot to me. He and his family has always been good to me. He will be in my heart forever and I’m honored that I was able know Jacob. Until we meet again buddy, I love ya man and you will always be remembered in my heart. Always.
