Irene Virginia (Owens) Dunn

Irene Virginia (Owens) Dunn passed away peacefully in Providence Hospice Place on January 16th, 2020 in Waco, Texas at the age of 79.

Service Information: Irene will be cremated at the Lakeshore Funeral Home in Waco. A memorial service and burial will be held at Cedar Crest Cemetery in Baytown on June 16th, 2020, her 80th birthday.

Irene is survived by her children, Charles Wayne McIntyre of Tucker, Arkansas, Brenda Kay (Speegle) Ferguson of Bellmead, Texas, and Karen Lee (Sturms) Arabie of Baytown, Texas; her grandchildren, Elaina Valerie (Ferguson) Remine and husband, Sean Remine of Waco, Texas, Carlie Ann Arabie-Pigott and wife, Britney Pigott of Cove, Texas, and Katy Jo Arabie of Baytown, Texas; great-granddaughter, Allyson Ray Arabie; and her very special friend, Sharon Edwards of Baytown, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter E. and Leota Mae (Kimble) Owens; brothers, Willard, James, John, and Robert; and son-in-law, Sonny Ray Arabie, Jr.

Irene was born on June 16th, 1940 in Sistersville, West Virginia. She lived in Ohio where her children were born and worked at the Portage County State Home as a nurse. She moved her family to Texas in 1976 where she was a Certified Nurse Aide and cashier for Angel’s Gas & Grocery. She retired in 1998.

Irene will be remembered for her big heart, kindness, patience, and strong work ethic that she instilled in her children. She enjoyed taking care of the elderly. She was a dedicated caring woman who loved everyone she met. Please join us in celebrating her life by donating to the Alzheimer’s Association in lieu of flowers.
