Stan was born May 1, 1940 in Fort Worth to Rev. Hubert and Alice (Hays) Crain. He attended schools in Stephenville where he enjoyed his time in the band. He proudly joined the Navy and served on the USS Forrestal during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Stan married Jeri Ann Prestwich on Valentine’s Day, 1973 in Waco. He later worked in the nursery and in audio/recording at China Spring United Methodist Church, where he was a member. He retired as an electronic technician, engineering assistant after 33 years of service with Brazos Electric Coop and found his new passion for serving others as a paramedic. He loved helping others and enjoyed working Friday night football games with Crawford EMS.

Stan loved communicating with people from all around the world as a HAM radio operator. He was an avid storm chaser and loved looking to the sky, whether to enjoy a colorful sunset or to admire God’s clouds- he found so much joy in the gifts he was provided. He had a servant’s heart and helped so many people that were in need. As a paramedic he was always running to help, even in his retirement years, he never slowed down. ALWAYS my big brother, FOREVER my friend. He gave everything of himself to his family, kids, step kids, grandkids, his church and community. He never rested and never vacationed. He was a US Navy vet, HAM radio operator, Military Affiliate Radio System (MARS) volunteer, and worked many disasters for FEMA. He was a working paramedic and volunteer fire fighter until he got sick in Sept. He lost his wife in 2013 and this Thursday morning at 7:58 she got him back. So many of the people he rescued and saved will live on and that is the way he would want it. You are our Guardian Angel now. Love you now and forever. Until we meet again, Gods Speed!

I will always remember Stan, with a smile on his face, happy to see you, & how you were doing. I would ask him the same, and he would always say, “it’s alright, doing okay” no matter what was going on at the time. Always giving so much for so many, asking little or nothing for himself. Glad I got to meet him, & call him my friend. God Bless his family.

Stan worked with Fire, but also was key essential to EMS. There is no way of knowing just how many “hundreds’ of lives he saved , and how many lives he has impacted thru his EMS work. ( EMS is a thankless profession) I have done EMS for over 30 years , Stan an I would talk for lengthy times about runs and our experiences. I remember when he was taking his paramedic test He would get so frustrated but never stopped , (much respect for that man) Peace be with you Stan I will truly miss you
God bless your family.
