Hazel Winifred Averyt Zeigler, Hazy to family, Winnie to her friends and family in the Mansfield, Ohio area, passed quietly on Sunday morning, March 13, 2011, at her China Spring residence. She had a long battle with heart and associated ailments that finally took its toll.

Hazy was born on November 9, 1952 in Roswell, New Mexico, while her father was assigned there during his time in the Air Force. She grew up living in several states and also overseas in England, Japan and Okinawa. This probably led to her love of travel as she would love to go anywhere in the car and site see.

Winnie spent the majority of her adult life in Mansfield, Ohio where she raised her children, worked and made many friends. She worked in the lumber industry and helped estimate lumber needs for many a new house being built in that area. After coming close to death in 2004 and being rescued by the doctors and her family, Hazy came to live with her sister, brother-in-law and mom in Oak Leaf, Texas and then to China Spring.

She would make many long trips back to Ohio to stay with family and friends and then return to Texas where she called home and loved the climate. She became limited on doing much traveling as her medical condition took a heavy toll when she spent too much time in the car.

Hazy was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert Lynn Averyt Sr, brother Gilbert Lynn Averyt Jr and her sister Carolynn Ann Duncan.

She is survived by her daughter Leesa Storms and husband Rich of Lucas, Ohio, son Shannon Zeigler of Mansfield, Ohio, mother Eva Averyt of China Spring, sister Lenda Callaway and husband Jimmy of China Spring, sister Judy Oliver and husband Raymond of Independence, Kansas, sister Patricia Schlittler and husband Jimmy of Garland, Texas, brother-in-law Tommy Duncan of Oak Leaf, Texas, grandchildren Brianna Cooper, Jordan Storms and Morgan Storms of Lucas Ohio, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends all over the country.
Hazy had wished to be cremated.

There will be a memorial service on March 26, 2011, at her residence in China Spring to remember her life and to celebrate it. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online Guest Book at www.LakeShoreFuneralHome.com.
