Gwenn Murry, 79, of Waco passed away peacefully at home on December 6, 2024.

Memorial Service:  2:00 pm Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Lake Shore Funeral Home. 5201 Steinbeck Bend Rd, Waco TX

Gwenn was born September 7, 1945, to parents Robert Calvin Murry Sr. and Ima Faye (Cockrell) Murry.  She spent her early years living with her parents and siblings in Flat, Texas.  She graduated from Gatesville High School in 1963.  Gwenn received both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science (Psychology) degrees from Tarleton State University.

Gwenn spent many years working for the State of Texas.  She was proud of the work she did for Texas Employment Commission, spending many years recruiting through several Central Texas counties for Job Corps, and later working on a new program called Project REO (Rehabilitation of Ex-Offenders.)  It was from this last position with TEC that she began working with Texas Department of Corrections.  During her time with TDC, she helped both adults and juveniles as a parole officer and case worker.

Gwenn had a lifelong love of music, particularly spiritual music, a cappella, and choirs.  She spent many pleasant years practicing and performing with the female barbershop organization Sweet Adelines.  She was also a member of several church and civic choirs.  In her later years, she enjoyed the friendship of her dear neighbors, and spending time with her “sweet little girls” – 2 small chihuahua companions Cricket and Doodlebug.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert Calvin Murry Jr. and her sister, Nita Murry Dotson.

Gwenn is survived by her son, Justin and his wife Mary; daughter, Jocelyn and her husband Heath; brother, Philip and wife Connie; sisters, Karen and Sharla; granddaughter Lexy and husband Conrad; grandchildren, Trevor and Jazz; granddaughters, Sabrina and Leticia; grandsons, Gilbert, Adrian and Tony; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and beloved nieces and nephews.
