I am sorry for your families’ loss. Mr. Laird was such a great chemistry teacher to me. I used so many of the lessons he taught in college and now as a science teacher myself. He was funny and kind and took time to make sure I understood WHY it worked, not just the facts.

Condolence from Estelle Shelton on April 5th, 2021 10:58 pm

Mr. Laird, you will be missed. Always helpful and friendly, you made CHS (and the world!) a better place. Your Christian witness was a blessing to all who shared your faith, and especially to those who didn’t. Your devotion to your family, friends, and students was an example for all to follow. I feel I am better person because you and Peggy touched my life. I know you will have a joyful reunion with your beloved wife.

We are sorry to hear of Glover’s passing. Glover and Peggy were so special to us. We have such wonderful memories of them and their son Eric. Lots of laughter, funny stories of life with our kids, and always there when we needed support. No doubt Peggy and Glover are together again with the Lord. Life was sweeter with them in it.

I know words are not enough but the Lairds were my second family, neighbors, teachers and supported me when I was lost without my mom. Glover- I promise turnips & greens, peas & cornbread, Sunday pot roast and your fresh berry & peach cobblers will taste so much better in Heaven. To Eric whom has always been like a brother growing up, stay strong, rely on the memories in your heart to carry you through your troubled days. Look up there’s always a rainbow somewhere!

Condolence from Stanley & Cheryl (Fore) Lee on April 6th, 2021 6:37 pm

Thank you, Mr. Laird, for all the lessons you taught us at Connally High School. You were the only teacher at Connally to have had all five of us Fores from my brother Danny, Sandy, Tracie, Nancy and on down to me, spanning 14 years. You were one of Stanley’s favorite teachers as well. We all have fond memories of your classes.
Prayers of comfort and peace to your family.

Condolence from Peter Tadin (“Chicago”) on April 6th, 2021 6:44 pm

So sorry to learn of Mr. Laird’s passing. He was my chemistry teacher back in the early 70’s at Connally High School and our class of 1974 was fond of he and his wife, Peggy. They only shared their love and smile with everyone they met, and we were all blessed to have known them. My thoughts and prayers are with their family during this difficult time of loss.

Rest in peace, Mr. Laird. Mr. Laird was my Chemistry teacher in 1971 and I loved the way he could apply the topic to everyday life (with the help of Sam Cuellar’s questions). He had a great sense of humor and helped me stay on the A honor roll with some extra tutoring. I loved both Mr and Mrs. Laird and they will always be part of my wonderful high school memories.

Condolences to the Laird family. Mr. and Mrs. Laird were among the best teachers I ever had–they made their subject matter come alive! Condolence from Tracie Holobaugh on April 8th, 2021 10:07 pm

Mr and Mrs Laird will always hold a special place in my heart. Both were extraordinary teachers, definitely in my top 5 best. We were also neighbors for 21 years….. many conversations over the back fence were had, and I’m sure the Holobaugh kids provided lively entertainment for The Lairds. Thank You Eric for sharing your parents with so many…… The streets of Lacy Lakeview will be lonely ….

Condolence from April Parrish Casey on April 9th, 2021 10:42 am
