George L. Alonso, age 61, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation:  6pm to 8pm Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Lake Shore Funeral Home

Funeral Service:  10am Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Lake Shore Funeral Home, officiated by Julian Garcia

Interment:  Oakwood Cemetery

George L. Alonso was born April 7, 1961 to John and Rose Alonso.  As a child George enjoyed neighborhood sports and he played baseball for Southern Little League.  George was a University High graduate.  While in high school, George worked at Aycock’s corner store, where he met the love of his life, Mary Ann.  They were married for 43 years.

After a few years of meat packing, George found his career as an electrician with Chatfield Electric and then later worked 30 years with Nemmer Electric.

George was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved camping, fishing, sitting by the fire with family, music with a cold Bud Light, and watching a Dallas Cowboys game.  George loved listening to family music sessions and dancing.

George was preceded in death by his parents, John and Rose Alonso; brothers, Mario and Rick Alonso; nephews, John Donald and Ricky Alonso.  Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Mary Ann; daughters, Tina, Donna and husband Kenneth; sons, Tony, Donald and wife Kelly; grandkids, Christina, Wade, Kenny, Victoria, Alexis, Briana, Donald Jr, Gavin and Chloe; great grandkids, Lilian, Scarlet, Nora, Mattie and Jenson; brothers,  John and wife Nelly, Jerry, David and Joe; sisters, Mary, Gloria and husband Jody; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews along with extended family and a host of friends.

Serving as pallbearers are John Alonso, David Alonso, Joe Alonso, A.J. Pecina, Kenneth Johnson, Jody Schauer; and honorary pallbearer, Jerry Alonso.
