Fern Elizabeth Wilson, 86, of Elm Mott, passed away Friday, October 28, 2011 at a local hospital with family present. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 2, at First Baptist Church of Elm Mott, with Rev. Jack Bodenhamer officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5 to 7p.m. Tuesday, November 1, at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco. Fern was born in Santa Anna, Texas to Leonard Ruby Bradford and Margaret Frances Partridge Bradford. She married Wilmer Leroy Wilson on June 15, 1946 in San Angelo. She devoted her life to supporting her husband during his 20 years in the military and to guiding, grooming, teaching, and loving her children, grandchildren, and great grand children. Each has learned through experiencing endless hours cooking, sewing, crocheting, flower tending, and, in the later years, simply visiting with her. Her home was THE gathering place, where everyone always arrived welcome and never left hungry. She set up family households in locations as far away as Japan and Guam, as well as several states, before finally settling back in Texas.

Until she was unable, she was an active member of First Baptist Church of Elm Mott, the Waco X-POW Chapter 1, the VFW, Providence Mended Hearts Club, and the Waco ARU group.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Brad Wilson; her parents; brothers Ted Bradford, Carl Bradford, and William
