Felicio Gamboa Martinez

Felicio1

Our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all Felicio Gamboa Martinez known to many as Felix, went to be with our Lord and Savoir at age 91 on February 18, 2021.  Felix was born on June 10, 1929 in Waco.  He was the oldest of three children.  He had to drop out of school to unselfishly work to support his mother and younger siblings.

He served in the Army in the 1940’s. He was a musician and loved playing his saxophone and was in a  jazz band while in the Army.  After the Army he worked at General Tire and was a Real Estate entrepreneur.

After retiring from General Tire he continued to play in his former band for benefits at the Texas AMVETS.  He was involved Waco’s Hispanic community.  He was loved by everyone who met him, in and outside his ties with the Hispanic Community.

He is survived by his children; Fernando Yepez, Karen Jones, and Timothy Martinez, sisters; Cruz (Tita) Mares, and Alberta (Birdie) Gaynor, grandchildren; Alaina, Gabriel, Adrian, Kandy, Kevin, and his Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wives and Granddaughter, Kristy.

The family asks that all remember that he lived up to his Latin Christian name: “Felicio”, meaning “happiness, good fortune, good luck, fertile, rich in crops and fruits”.
