Evelyn L. Eskew

Evelyn L. Eskew, 86, of West, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on June 17, 2014.

Visitation:  6-8pm, Friday, June 20th at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend, Waco, 76708.

Graveside Services: 10am, Saturday, June 21st at Waco Memorial Park, 6623 South I-35, Waco.

Evelyn was born October 27, 1927 in Riesel, the fifth of 19 children born to Jim and Amy (Brink) Lasseter. She married George Marvin Eskew in June of 1948, and their marriage was blessed with five children. Due to George serving in the U.S. Navy, Evelyn raised their five children mainly by herself.  She showed her children how to love, live life to the fullest, and work hard for the things they wanted.  Evelyn enjoyed reading, and crochet, anything crafty and creative, Evelyn excelled at. She was an exceptional mother, and a doting and loving wife.  Evelyn and George were the very definition of soul mates, and after his untimely passing in 1979, Evelyn was never quite the same.  In 2013, she survived the horrible West Fertilizer explosion when residing at West Rest Haven, and had been living with her daughter, Karen, since then.  Her pretty smile and loving ways will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George Eskew; her parents; four siblings, Jimmy Ray Lasseter, Cleo Robert, Carol White, and Dorothy Denny; and one grandchild, Kyle Eskew.

She is survived by three sons, Guy Eskew and wife Cindy of Ross, Greg Eskew and wife Perri of Waller, and Gary Eskew of Houston; two daughters, Linda Simpson and husband Dean Whitlock of Ross, and Karen Paris and husband Gary of West; eighteen grandchildren, Ronnie Reeves, Donnie Reeves, Daniel Reeves, Jerri Simpson, Jimmy Simpson, Suzy Hearne, Jason Grochoske, Callie Poteet, Gennifer Hargrove, Gessica Finley, Gillian Sheppard, Kelli Eskew, Robert Eskew, Craig Eskew, Tricia Cooney, Jorgi Eskew, Casey Eskew, and Riley Eskew; many great-grandchildren;  fourteen siblings, Faye Lasseter, Weldon Lasseter, Audrey Martin, Ruthie Lillard, Roy Lasseter, Nita Walpo, Patsy Childress, Polly Hilton, Jerry Lasseter, JoAnn Grizzel, Gene Lasseter, Myrna Dyer, Clifford Lasseter, and Arthur Lasseter; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other dear family members and friends.

Place of Service: Waco Memorial Park , 6623 S. IH-35; Robinson, TX 76706
