Esther Mae Darnell, 73, of China Spring, passed away Friday, March 2, 2018 at her residence.

Memorial Service: 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, at Lake Shore Funeral Home

It is with great sadness that the family of Esther Mae Darnell, “Esther Mae Feisty” as called by her daddy, lays her to rest in the arms of her Heavenly Father.

Esther passed peacefully in her sleep in China Spring on March 2, 2018. She was born July 23 1944 in Tulsa and moved to the Waco area in 1972. She worked at Surgikos in Waco and for many years at Command Air in McGregor. In 1988, she moved back to Tulsa to care for her mom. She worked and retired from OU Family medical. She moved back to China Spring in 2005.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Sarah Darnell; and her little brother, Walter Darnell.

She is survived by her husband, Heinz Gates of China Spring; brothers, Ray Darnell and wife, Carol of Claremore, OK and Sam Darnell of Tulsa; her sons, Larry Porter and wife, Charyl and Glenn Bement and wife, Tammy all of Arkansas; daughters, Shelly Mears and husband, Randy of Midlothian and Jonetta Meek and fiancé, Randy Westerfield of Crawford; step daughters, Tonya Weller and fiancé, Gregg Brown of Bruceville Eddy, Terri Rockett and husband, Boyce of Robinson, Torre Spence and friend, Terri and Theresa Prescher of McGregor and Angela Gates of Leroy. She is also survived by 23 grandkids that were all her “favorite”; and 48 great grandkids with three on the way.

Esther’s heart was so full of love for her family, her friends, The Oklahoma Sooners, The Dallas Cowboys, and her precious fur baby Cocoa. She was a nurturer, a caregiver, and spent her life taking care of everyone she knew and loved unselfishly. Her exuberance, passion for life, and beautiful smile was contagious and will be greatly missed. May the strength that was within her carry each and everyone of us through this time.
