Edward Henry Pierce, 81, of Waco, passed away Monday, September 2, 2013. A Memorial Service will be 2pm, Saturday, September 7, 2013 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 7201 Viking Drive, Waco.

He was born April 15, 1932 in Baltimore, Maryland to Vernon Franklin and Catherine Ellen Pierce. He graduated from high school in Baltimore and served in the US Army as a radio operator with a tour of duty in Korea from 1951-1953. He married Sonia Madalene Powley on June 12, 1954 and was in the transportation industry until his retirement from Airborne Express in 1997. Mr. Pierce was a two time past president for the Windmill Hill Home Owners’ Association and was a member of the Waco Airport Board. In retirement he enjoyed helping people as a handyman, fixing anything and everything. Every year he and his wife Sonia would assist in the preparation of income taxes at the Waco library. Ed also fancied himself a master chef and loved cooking and entertaining on a grand scale.

Mr. Pierce is survived by his wife, Sonia; his daughter, Lisa and husband, Donald Harper, of Oklahoma; his son, Michael and wife, Diane Pierce, of Colorado; his daughter, Victoria Pierce and partner, Angela Ceccator, of Texas; his grandchildren, Michael Burgess, Sara Pierce, Robert Pierce, Jessika Smith, Heather Harper, Jacob Pierce and Clifford Curry.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers a donation be make to Scott and White Hospice, without whom, this final journey and many others would be far more difficult.
