Edward Guadalupe Gomez

Edward Guadalupe Gomez, 44, of Waco, went home with the Lord Wednesday, December 5, 2018.

Visitation: 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 10th, at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco

Celebration of Life: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 11th, at Lake Shore Funeral Home, with Elder Floyd King officiating.

Edward was born January 15, 1974, in Whitney, to Geneva H. Castillo. He later moved to Waco, where he met the love of his life, Rosa Linda Rivera in December of 1988.  They married July 9, 1993. In their 25 years of marriage, they celebrated many accomplishments, including three beautiful children. In 2000, Edward heard the Lord call upon him for a special purpose, and he became saved. In 2008, he further pursued his calling by becoming an interim minister in Temple to help others discover the power that allowed him to have patience, understanding, grace, and most of all love. Edward was so passionate about helping people that he started his own ministry in 2013, Brotherly Love Fellowship. In 2017, with the help of his son, Edward rekindled his enthusiasm for playing billiards and joined a local team. He could never stop smiling while playing.  He didn’t care about winning or losing, instead he focused on helping others enjoy playing the game. He performed exceptionally well and was selected for a special tournament in Las Vegas. Edward was able to spread his giving spirit everywhere possible.

Edward was preceded in death by his mother, Geneva Salinas; and his father, Ernest “Daddy” Castillo.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa; daughters, Celestina and her husband, Matthew Harper of Grand Junction, Colorado and Racheal Gomez of Waco; son, Andrew Gomez of Waco; three brothers; two sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be greatly missed by his entire family and friends.

  4. May God’s promise at John 5:28,29 of a future resurrection bring you comfort. Until that time comes, he assures us at Psalm 34:18 that he “is close to the brokenhearted” and “saves those who are crushed in spirit.” So he understands your pain and grief and is eager to help you by giving you the strength you need to cope during this most difficult time. (Philippians 4:13)
