On December 15, 1994 the late Robert Earle Holder and Naomi Smith Holder were blessed with a handsome baby boy Dwight Edward Holder. Dwight, fondly called “Little Dwight” was the joy of his big brother, parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins, (like brothers and sisters) and even co-workers lives.

Dwight attended public school in Waco, Texas beginning at Alta Vista Elementary, LaVega Middle School and LaVega High School. Dwight was a great student in elementary and enjoyed attending each day. He loved music and beginning at the age of six he took piano lessons from the renown Mrs. Ruby McCray and played and participated in piano recitals. Mrs. Hill was another person that impacted Little Dwight as he played piano, participated in recitals and won many trophies. In middle school he skillfully played the Saxaphone in the band under the leadership of Mr. Tom English, Mrs. Holly Johnson and Mr. Ramon Carrillo.

Dwight had a passion for education and was excited to learn, therefore, he participated in many educational programs that prepared him for college. He was the spokesperson for the Gear-Up program sponsored by Baylor University. He graduated with honors for LaVega High School, attended University of Texas at San Antonio, McLennan Community earning a AAS degree specializing in agriculture. He attended Texas State Technical College and earned an Associate Degree in Construction Management.  As a life-long learner he was currently enrolled in courses at TSTC to become a Biomedical Technician.

Earning a living was a big part of Dwight’s life, for the last three years he was an employee at HEB in Bellmead, TX. Dwight cheerfully implied that he was an essential employee as he served customers of the community.

Sports played a great role in Dwight’s life, he played football since he was in the seventh grade. He was an offensive guard, number 76, who was calm under pressure. He could be depended upon to be the most effective team player supporting to achieve the best outcome, winning if possible, and graceful losing. He participated in Power Lifting and his mother affectionally called him “My Beast” and when he heard her, he would achieve his lifting goal with pride.

Dwight accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in Jesus ‘Name. He attended King’s Christian House of Prayer, Bishop King Moore, Jr. Pastor. One of Dwight’s greatest delights was participating in the Bible Bowls and winning First Place. He was commended as being one of the team members that ensured winning, He loved the Lord and his grandmother taught him many scriptures that he memorized and could recite verbatim, King James’s Version.

Little Dwight was preceded in death by his father, Robert Earle Holder; his grandparents, Roy Lynn Smith, Sr, Elola Sereffa Smith, John Holder, Sr., and Freddie Mae Holder and maternal and paternal aunts and uncles.

He leaves to cherish his memories Love of his life, Bri’Tany Brown (was to be wedded on September 10, 2021); his devoted mother, Naomi Deloris Holder; loving big brother, Robert Lorenzo Holder; future in laws, James and Stephanie Brown; three sisters, Erica Holder, Delia Holder, and Roberta Holder-Williams and nephew, Eli Anthony Holder, and a host of nieces, nephews cousins, aunts and uncles.

  3. The Arnold family

Our family met Dwight at piano lessons at Mrs. Hill’s house. My kids’ lessons was on the same day so we got to know him through or weekly lessons, and spent many recitals every year. After Dwight went off to college we often wonder how he was doing. Luckily we always shopped at H‑E‑B in Bellmead, where would continue to run into him on our shopping trips. He would always say hello and catch up. He was a polite and very nice person. Always quick to say yes ma’am or no sir.
I pray for his sweet mom for the hard days ahead.
I was glad that I knew Dwight and he could really play piano.
It is such a tragic loss for so many. Much Love

  4. Words will not wipe your tears and hugs may not ease the pain; but hold on to the memories you have of Dwight and the well traveled journey of life, love and happiness he left. Though my words may do little; I hope the prayers and thoughts will comfort, support and give you strength.
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. ( Hebrews 10:23
Praying for you and all our family!
    Much love,

  5. Words however gentle, seem so inadequate and cannot take your loss away, but may these help in some way to let you know that many thoughts are there with you today and in the future. Dwight touched so many lives and he had a contagious smile. I have not heard a negative comment about him.
He loved God, his Mom , his Family and Sooo!! many Friends.
He will never be forgotten and he has left a legacy for all of us.
May God keep his mom, family and friends in Prayer.
Thanks to all that gave us support.

It is with great saddest that I learned of the passing of Dwight Edward Holder. I remember Dwight as a delightful child to teach. He was kind, thoughtful, and very respectful, and eager to learn and make friends. I followed him as he grew up, with his mother Naomi, filling me in on how well he was doing in school, as a musician, and college student. I knew he would do well, because he had parents who gave their all to make sure he was going to be successful. And He WAS!
Please know that my prayers are with Naomi and the family. I also pray that the Blessing of Dwight’s life and the memories of Him hold you strong in knowing that he will always be with you.
    With Sincere Love & Thoughts
