Dr. Gary Marvin Walker, 74, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019, in Waco, Texas.

Gary, the son of Marvin and Jymme´ Walker, was born in Pampa, Texas on September 12, 1944. He grew up in Traverse City, Michigan where he met the love of his life, Marcia Lynn Eoff; they married on April 16, 1966. Marcia preceded him in death on March 31, 2010, and he never really recovered from the loss. We take solace in knowing they are joyfully reunited and celebrating their 53rd Wedding Anniversary together in Heaven.
He is survived by three children, William (Loriann) Walker II, Catherine (Brent) Lightfoot, Megan (Richard) Marek; nine grandchildren, Ashley, Shawn, Quinn, Sloane, Emilie, Reagan, Gretchen, Izabelle, and Alyssa; his brother, Glen (Margarita) Walker; and his sister, Nancy (James) Bredin. A granddaughter, Heather, preceded him in death.
Gary was a remarkable man and led a remarkable life. In his professional life, Gary never strayed from his passion for Criminal Justice and Education. He served as a Detroit Policeman, worked for the Michigan State Police, and earned a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Michigan State University. In 1991, Gary and Marcia left Michigan and moved to Texas where he worked at Texas A&M University until moving on to the Office of the Texas Governor where he proudly served former Governor, President George W. Bush and Governor Gregg Abbott.
In his private life, nothing brought him more joy than being with his family and friends. He is lovingly remembered as a Father, a Big Brother, a Grandpa, the Tickle Monster, one of the family bookends, and so much more. Santa was his hero, he loved the English language, enjoyed watching mysteries and Fox News, loved to reminisce about his childhood in Traverse City, and was a man who could turn any stranger in a Starbucks into a friend.
He is gone too soon. He is missed. He is remembered. He is loved.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Diabetes Association in memory of Dr. Gary M. Walker.
