Donal E. McDanel 97, went to heaven peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at home in Waco, surrounded by family and dear friends.
Memorial Service and Internment: 12pm on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at the Homestead Heritage Memorial Park (#2) 496 Halbert Ln, Waco. We invite friends and family to come celebrate a life well- lived.
Donal, known to friends as Casey, was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on April 29, 1927, but called Faulkton, South Dakota, home. That was where he and Bonnie met and married and visited frequently to see family. Casey was a decorated Vietnam veteran and served honorably for 20 years in the US Air Force. Our family is thankful for all the prayers and kind words for our beloved father. It is with sorrow and rejoicing for a life well lived.
Casey was preceded in death by parents, Winifred Chase and Warren Arthur McDanel; sisters, Doris Coloumb and Velda Weisberg, and son-in-law, Blair Adams.
Donal is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Bonnie (nee Stotz); brother, Rodney McDanel and wife Sandy; eight children and their spouses, Regina Adams, Conal and Linda McDanel, Danette and Ed Johnson, Marta and Tom Staley, Katrina and Tim Lobb, Carol and Keith Shackleford, Phil and Gaye McDanel, and Brad and Tammy McDanel. As well as 27 grandchildren and their 21 spouses, 76 great grandchildren and 7 spouses with 10 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers our family has asked that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Donal (Casey) McDanel’s name.
