Posted By Lake Shore Funeral Home On June 2, 2018 @ 4:32 pm In Obituaries | 7 Comments

Randall Don “Flash” Gordon, age 81, of Waco, passed away peacefully at 10:05 pm, Friday, June 1, 2018, at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco.

Funeral Service: 10a.m. Thursday, June 7th at Harvest Time Revival Center, 1208 N. Robinson Dr, Waco, TX 76706. Burial will be at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with military honors.

No visitation is planned.

Don was born on March 24, 1937 to loving parents Ulus Otto Gordon and Joyce Maydell Ruthardt in Paris, TX. He graduated from Paris High School and went on to serve in US Army from 1962 – 1964, a patriot who loved his country. From 1965 to 1997, Don worked at Yellow Freight Lines and was a proud Teamster member of Local 745. In 1975, he married Billie Gordon and they settled in the DFW area and raised their family. After retiring from Yellow Freight, he worked at many different jobs. Having a true servant’s heart, he was soft spoken and gentle, but faithfully cared for family and friends.

When Don and Billie relocated to Waco in 2008, he could be found on the sidelines cheering his grandkids, visiting with neighbors, serving at the church and performing various jobs — always fixing and tinkering with anything that needed “fixin!” He had a love of old Western movies, particularly John Wayne. Always at ease with others and someone who could talk to a total stranger, Don was loved by many. He loved life and people and with his strong will and faith in Jesus he overcame many difficult circumstances in his life. Don’s family and friends were very important to him including his life-long friends in Paris and throughout Texas. He had a great laugh, warm smile and a wonderful sense of humor.

The family wants to express its deepest gratitude to all the staff at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital and the VA for their loving care and support. During his final days their efforts made an extremely difficult time less stressful.

Don was preceded in death by parents, Maydell Ruthardt Gordon and Ulus Otto Gordon; and daughter, Ashley Gordon Farmer.

Don is survived by wife of 43 years, Billie Gordon; daughters, Donna Gordon and husband Tom Baker, Deanna St John and husband Jay, and Dana Enloe; sons, Rusty Gordon, Jeff Tucker and wife Tracy; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

I have so many fond memories of Don; his my daddy’s close relationship is definitely my favorite. Although you were my cousin, I always thought of you as “Uncle Don”. I loved the stories you and Daddy would tell and as many recounts of those memories of your’s and Daddy’s I heard, they never get old or boring. I love you “Uncle” Don, and Imlove you Billie, Dana, and the whole family. My heart felt, sincere are with you all as you navigate the coming days and months. I pray for God’s peace and blessings of comfort and grace to surround and embrace you. Don was indeed a wonderful man, and I’m proud to know that he loved the Lord and chose to serve Him. Condolence from Cara Wommack France on June 20th, 2018 12:54 am

Don — or Flash as my family called him — was one of the most loyal friends a person could ever have. He and my father — Ennis “Hawk” Wommack – – were life-long friends and I have many wonderful memories of the two of them . Whether it was riding motorcycles together or just the two of them talking at my Dad’s pawn shop, Flash was a big part of my father’s life. He was a pall bearer at Dad’s funeral in 1993. I will never forget him. My deepest condolences to his family and many friends. Rest easy, Flash. You and Dad have a great roadtrip in Heaven. Love, Cara Lisa
