Dina Gaye Wyatt Hoffman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend died on Saturday, March 29, 2025. She was surrounded by her loving family.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m. at Lake Shore Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Lynn Willhite. The service will be followed by a reception for loved ones to gather in her memory
Dina was born in Lubbock, Texas, on December 7, 1959 to Mark and Mickee Wyatt. She spent her childhood in Levelland, Texas. As the second of three daughters, she brought much joy and sunshine to the family, as well as a little bit of mischief. She graduated from Levelland High School in 1978, after having been voted by her senior class as Miss Levelland High School.
She attended McMurry University in Abilene, Texas where she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and met many lifelong friends, including her loving husband Paul. Dina and Paul married in Levelland on June 26, 1982. Later, Dina completed two Master’s degrees at Baylor University in Education and School Counseling.
Dina had many interests and talents. A gifted musician, Dina played piano for her home church as a high school student and later taught piano and music to children. She enjoyed going to hear live music with her family and friends. She also reveled in the beauty of nature and enjoyed working in her butterfly and flower gardens at home and growing fresh fruit and vegetables. A natural nurturer, Dina cared for many family pets over the years, and was friendly to visiting stray animals and the occasional raccoon. She especially loved watching songbirds and hummingbirds visit the feeders near her back deck.
Dina spent her notable career of 38 years dedicated to educating children, with a special passion for the Montessori curriculum. She started her teaching career as an elementary classroom teacher and retired from Kendrick Elementary in May 2024 after serving many years as a school counselor. While at Kendrick, Dina was awarded a grant to create an outdoor classroom and garden where she shared her love of nature with her students.
Dina took great joy in her family and relationships with loved ones. She was known as the nurturer, peace-keeper, and for her radiant smile. Dina loved a “crowded table”. She was known for her hospitality, always ready to provide a home-cooked meal which often led to long conversations around the dining room table.
Dina is survived by her husband Paul Hoffman, daughter Emily (Cody) Schroeder of Round Rock, son Andy Hoffman of San Diego, grandchildren Everett and Adelyn Schroeder, parents Mark and Mickee Wyatt, sisters Janna Wofford and Laura Willard and their families, along with countless friends. She also leaves behind Buddy, her terrier “guardian angel,” who kept her company in recent months and continues to remind us of her sweet and caring spirit. We are especially grateful to her hospice nurses of Compassus, Missi and Rebecca, who were there in her transition. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Waco Walks via Act Locally Waco (actlocallywaco.org/waco-walks), Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, or the charity of your choice.

The posted tribute to Dina I have read several times. It is a beautiful story about the sweetest of all. May God reward her richly in Heaven.
Mrs Hoffman was such a blessing to me during the 14 years I I worked with her at Kendrick. She was such a warm and friendly person and she will be greatly missed. Her warm smile and gentle heart many times made me feel welcome and at ease. She loved The Lord and now lives by site over faith in the presence of His Glory. God Bless and comfort her family during this difficult time.
