Dianne Ackley Wood, 66, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, December 3rd. Graveside services will be 2PM Wednesday, December 11th at Moore Cemetery in Chalk Bluff with Rev. Jay Mathis officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8PM Tuesday, December 10th at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online Guest Book at www.LakeShoreFuneralHome.com.

Dianne was born September 30, 1947 in Hillsboro. She graduated from L.D. Bell High School in Hurst, TX. She had many careers, but was most proud of being an aircraft mechanic with ESI in Waco, TX and with McDonnell-Douglas in Long Beach, CA. She had a great sense of adventure as she once chose to take a passage on a cargo ship in stormy weather from Ireland to the U.S. rather than flying. She was an amazing, loving, unselfish, and giving mother who will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her children, Zachary Wood and wife Arleen, Kelly Pond, and Dena Shelton; parents, Oscar and Verna Ackley; grandchildren, Noah Kirby and Miranda Pond.

Condolence from Christopher Tucker on February 28th, 2014 9:13 am

I’ve known Dianne for many years. Zach is a friend. I will always remember her as a woman of dignity and grace. She was a wonderful lady who lived a remarkable life. Her son has grown into a fine man, and his life is a testament to her success as a mother. She had so many stories! I was always amazed at the placed she’d been, the things she’d done, and the sights she’d seen.

I knew Dianne was dealing with some health issues. I am so very sorry about her passing. She was a kind, considerate and lovely woman. I cannot imagine the grief her family is feeling at this loss. My prayers go out to her family and friends. I had not seen Dianne in years but we had played a few internet games together and it was fun keeping in touch that way. I know she will be missed. Rest in Peace Dianne.
