Deborah (Goodman) Smith, 70, of Waco, passed away on September 12, 2021, at Providence Medical Center in Waco, Texas.
Service Information: Services are at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 24 and will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, 2124 S.5th St., in Waco.
Deborah, a devoted daughter, wife, mother and Gran, was born in San Antonio at Brooke Army Hospital on August 24, 1951, to Joe and Betty Goodman.
In January of 1970, she married the love of her life, Harvey, who would soon be whisked away to serve his country. Soon their little family would grow to three, and then in the next three years, grow to a glorious family of five. She dedicated her life to raising a family. Throughout the years, Harvey and Deborah centered their family around the love of God, while also surrounding themselves with fellow church
members. Deborah was an avid reader and passionate about studying the Bible. Her love for scripture was evident in her guidance with her children, but even more so in her interactions with
her grandchildren. When they were young, they loved listening to her tell Bible stories, each of them having their favorites. Deborah and Harvey just last year celebrated a milestone- 50 golden years of marriage with their children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joe Goodman.
Deborah is survived by her husband of 51 years, Harvey Smith, three children and their spouses,
Carolyn Cole (Danny Cole), Chris Smith (Amy Smith), and Cherie Cummings (Jason
Cummings), and eight grandchildren that were the highlight of her life: Kaitlyn Cummings, Ryan
Cole, Sammy Cole, Ashlyn Smith, Jace Cummings, Cassidy Cole, Hayden Smith, and Jack
Cummings. She is also survived by her mother, Betty Goodman, a brother, Joe Goodman Jr., and
a sister, Marianne Scarborough. She will be greatly missed by a niece, nephews, many other
relatives and countless friends.

Sadden by the news of Deborah’s passing. The world has lost a very caring and giving woman.

Debbie is my forever friend. She planted seeds of faith in me. We had a lot of fun when our children were small. I will so miss her, but she is in the arms of our Savior. To Harvey and family, we are praying for God’s comfort and peace. Love. Nora and Ken Rabby
Now we, Debbie’s family and dear friends, with the passing and loss of our friend & fellow lover of God & Jesus Christ, are compelled to begin the inescapable and heartbreaking process of learning to endure the suffering, crushing loss and emptiness imposed by this wounding insult of her absence.
In that moment she crossed, I know in my heart, mind, & soul, that Jesus met Debbie Face to Face, Enveloped her in His Loving Arms and Said to her,
“”Well Fought My Good And Faithful Servant, Welcome HOME.””
I lose a High School friend & fellow Patriot devoted to TRUTH. And the REPUBLIC loses a Valiant Fighter and an unforgettably impressive, and exceptionally special “thread” in the Fabric of Liberty, Freedom, and TRUTH.
