Deborah Lynn Powell Carter, 41, of Waco, Texas, passed away suddenly Tuesday, March 1, 2011. Funeral services will be 4PM Sunday, March 6th at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco. Debbie was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was very outgoing, loyal, generous, and people that met her loved her. Her laugh was infectious. Debbie loved life, animals and the ocean. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Leroy Cox, Sr.; paternal grandfather, William Lee Powell (Pa); and paternal step-grandfather, John Bradshaw.

Left behind to cherish her memory is her daughter, Ashley Michelle Carter of Georgetown; her loving parents Linda and John Thornton of Cedar Park and George W. Powell and Dr. Linda Burrows of Garland; maternal grandmother, Juanita Cox of Houston; paternal grandmother, Ollie Myrle

    Wonderful mother, loving daughter and great person. Brought so much joy to her fiance’ Steve and Grandmothers Nanny and MeeMee and all her family and friends. Debbie was my baby girl and I will love her forever and miss her so much. Telling me that if she can get her degree, I can get mine. She survived a lot of adversity and shined through it all. She was a strong woman. It saddens me that she was taken at such a young age. She was finally happy. I see a lot of her strength and personality in Ashley. My love and prayers go out to you and your family.

I remember going over to hang out with Ashley when we where in middle school and she would always hang out with us and help with all of our young drama.
