Dayron A. Pepper Jr., 72, of Whitney, Texas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, in a Waco hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, October 27, at the Pepper farm (614 HCR 1256, Whitney, Texas 76692). Dr. Allan Lane of Fort Graham Baptist Church will officiate, and in case of inclement weather the service will be moved to this church location. A meal and a time for fellowship will follow the service.

Dayron was born in Dallas on June 18, 1940. His family lived in East Texas and in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas where he met and married Sandra Underwood in October of 1961. He attended the University of Texas at Arlington and graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1971. He then fulfilled a life time desire to live on the Texas coast by moving to Corpus Christi, Texas where he worked in Transmission Construction and Design for Central Power and Light Company. In 1980 he returned to Dallas to work as a salesman, or peddler, he said, for the Ohio Brass Company. He retired to Whitney in 1998 and lived happily at the site of the old Pepper dump ground until his death.

Dayron was preceded in death by his parents Ruth and Dayron Pepper and his infant daughter Mona Lynn. He is survived by his wife, Sandra, his daughter Laura Farley and her children Andrew and Rachel, and his son Michael and his children Toby and Cian, all of Plano, Texas and by his sisters, Barbara Mayfield of Blooming Grove, and Sue Hicks of Lindale.

Pepper was an outdoorsman his entire life

My sincere condolences to you, Sandra, and all your family.

I worked with Dayron at Ohio Brass for about 4 years and will always remember the "philosophy sessions" when Dayron shared great sayings with us, such as: "There is no such thing as reality, only perception." "The only absolute is that there is no absolute." Unknown to me at that time, these sayings have followed me for the last 20 years. Thanks, Dayron!

My thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. I wish I had the opportunity to know Mr. Pepper, but if his wonderful daughter, Laura, is any indication, he was truly a remarkable man.
