Darleen Evelyn (Endtricht) Barger Waldron, 89, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully February 5, 2025, while residing at The Delaney at Lake Waco.

A private family service and interment is planned where Darleen will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, A.C.

Darleen was born in La Grange on December 28, 1935, the daughter of Paul Edward Endtricht and Hildegard Kathleen Francis (Jochen) Endtricht. She grew up in Port Arthur and spent many summers with her grandparents in Schulenberg.

Darleen married the love of her life, Albert Claude “A.C.” Barger, on May 2, 1958 in Houston. She and A.C. raised their two daughters, Kathy Lee and Donna Lisa, in Spring. Darleen and A.C. enjoyed 43 years of marriage. In 1984, they retired to Centerville, where they made lifelong friends and were very active in the community and the Republican Party. They enjoyed traveling, especially to London and other parts of The United Kingdom. They also enjoyed visiting Kathy and family in New England and Donna and family in Missouri.

A.C. passed away in July 2003, after a short battle with acute myelogenous leukemia.

In 2004, Darleen married Billy Gene Waldron, of Huntsville (originally of Pocahontas, AR). She and Bill spent 16 happy years together in Centerville. After a career as a college professor, Bill enjoyed the country life, but they also traveled extensively until he passed away, after battling Parkinson’s Disease, in May 2020.

Darleen had an interesting career, mostly in retail sales and management. She and A.C. managed, and eventually owned Wormser Hat Store, in Houston. She had a natural mind for math and great talent in sales and business management. However, nothing made her happier than spending time with her family and friends. She considered her great friends, Norma and Don Spence, as extended family.

Darleen exhibited her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, through her devotion to family and friends. She loved and served both of her husbands generously. Over the years, she volunteered in many community and church programs and ministries.

Darleen was preceded in death by her mother, Hildegard; father, Paul; brothers, Larry and James; sister, Delores; and her husbands, A.C. and Bill.

Darleen is survived by her children and their spouses. Kathy and Scott Hollomon, of Waco, and Donna and Gary Everett, of Lee’s Summit, MO; grandchildren, Randall and Molly Hollomon, Craig and Brianna Eubank, and Rachel Fossey; great-grandchildren, Elijah and Finley Eubank, and Ryan and Matthew Hollomon.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at The Delaney at Lake Waco, and to Interim Hospice for their loving care provided during her time there.
