Danny Joe Bush, 65, of Waco, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, April 9, 2009, at his residence. Mr. Bush requested cremation and no funeral service. Therefore, his friends are asked to celebrate his life as they choose.

Danny was born Sept. 22, 1943, to Evelyn Whitley Bush and Alton Bush. He was reared by his late Aunt Jewell and Uncle Homer Mills and graduated from Lorena High School. He married Beverly Jean Swanner on May 1, 1964, in Waco. They had no children but loved raising miniature dachshunds and had many "special kids." He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Bush was employed by Reynolds Aluminum for 28 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley McRae; and brother, Billy McRae.

Survivors include wife of 45 years, Beverly; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tommy and Brenda Swanner; cousins, Bobbie Crow, Betty Smith and husband, Billy Joe Smith and Wanda and Calvin Lemke; several nieces and nephews; best friends and fishing buddy, Daniel Ham and wife, Barbara.

The family would like to thank Providence Hospice for their care. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online Guest Book at www.LakeShoreFuneralHome.com.

Condolences for the family of “Danny Bush”

Condolence from Barbara Ham on February 28th, 2014 9:13 am

Beverly,
Daniel and I have been very blessed to have met you guys many years ago. The many years that Danny taught Daniel everything he knows about fishing. I remember all the times we went camping together in what I called the "Hell Hole" Lake Pinkston, but as the years went by I became very fond of going and spending time with Danny in the cold bitter wind in a tent that leaked, all the while he was in a nice warm camper. I almost froze. What a memory.
Him and Beverly have made such an impact on our lives, from being best of friends to handing down his skills of fishing to my son Joseph.
Joseph has become a great avid wildlife lover which made him continue in his life to go to college and become a bioligist. And now works for the US FISH and WIlDLIFE. His hobbies has become Daniel and Joes hobbies. He has always treated us as family and we always will remember him as a Friend, Dad, and teacher.
We will always love him and have many stories to tell to make anyone laugh. I could write a book on the adventures of Daniel and Danny. My heart is always with you Beverly and you will always be a dear friend and be a part of our family, just as Danny was. All my Love to you Beverly.
He has gone to the Lord and now has no pain. He is with so many of our family and dear friends. May we always remember the Life of this Special Man.

Love Barbara Ham

Condolence from Daniel Ham on February 28th, 2014 9:13 am

Beverly and the Bush family:
Please accept my condolances on the passing of Danny. He was a great friend and mentor for the past 30 years. He was more than just a friend to me. I will miss the calls and the many conversations we shared.
When I was very young Danny taught me how to fish in Trinty Bay and I had no idea where we were at. I always told him if anything happened to him out there, he was out of luck because I was lost as a goose. Only to end up moving out on the Bay and fishing the same spots that we shared so many times.
He also taught me how to fresh water fish and we fished a many of day and night on Houston County Lake and Lake Pinkston. He always new where the fish were. I had the great pleasure of raising my Son Joe around Danny 24 years ago. Joe has now become a great fisherman and has the love of the outdoors. He has made such an impact on my familys life. He was someone I could alway talk to and depend on. In our 30 years of friendship we never had a cross word, that has to be a record for both of us. I will miss Danny very much, and feel very honored to have had such a good friend. He will always be on my mind whether I am on the water or just watching a fishing show. His knowledge will be passed on to my Grandson. The Lord has taken away the pain and suffering he has delt with for so long. He was never a quitter. Beverly is and alway will be a big part of our lives. Beverly, we love you and will always be here for you no matter what. All my love Daniel Ham

We live next door to Daniel and Barbara and though we never got the chance to meet you and Danny, we have heard many wonderful things about you both. It’s never easy to lose a loved one, but take comfort in knowing that he is not suffering any more for in Heaven there are no more tears and no more pain. May God bless and keep you always.

Condolence from Perry Holloway on February 28th, 2014 9:14 am

Beverly, I want to send you my deepest sympathy regarding your loss. I will always fondly remember the time I was able to spend with Dan and Daniel out on Lake Pinkston. I can still picture him sitting on the bow of that Big Ol’ White Boston Whaler. Those poor fish never had a chance. The one thing I admired most about Dan was his seemingly endless even temperment and drive. I will also never forget the kindness and hospitality you and Dan showed me whenever I would visit your home on Lake Pinkston. Thank You Again for the offer of the fish mount. I will make a special place for it in my office and think of Dan and the days we got to enjoy time on the water together.

Sincerely ,
Perry Holloway
