Charles Eugene Clark


Charles Eugene Clark, 87, formerly of Denver City and Brownfield, TX, found peace as he went home to eternal rest, Monday, November 27, 2017 at St. Catherine’s Center in Waco, TX.

Memorial Service & Burial:Arrangements for burial are planned for spring 2018 at Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Abilene, TX under the direction of Lakeshore Funeral Home in Waco, TX.

Charles was born the third of seven children to T.R. Clark and Carmen Wyly. Following a 1948 graduation from Sundown High School, he received a diploma in accounting from Draughon’s Business College. Charles was a Marine corporal and Korean War Purple Heart Recipient. Active with the Veterans of Foreign War including State Commander of Area 1 and District 7, he was also District Chaplain. His work with his fellow Veterans included a trip in 2014 with the Texas Panhandle Honor Flight to Washington D.C. He had been a volunteer fire fighter, business owner and oilfield worker. An avid horseman and auctioneer/announcer, his life passions included owing horses and the friendships developed through the Yoakum County Sheriff Posse and Denver City riding club. A hard working, loving family man with a strong conviction to faith, family and country. His earthly struggles are at an end, and he can now ride the prairies of heaven and two-step until dawn. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers Fred and Monroe Clark, 3 sisters Claudine Towner, Wanda Coats and Irma Reed; and two wives, mother of his daughters Marlene Watkins Harber and second wife Moray Sturdivant Clark.

Charles is survived by youngest brother Marvin Clark; daughter Brenda Clark Hawley and husband Thomas; daughter Ranee Clark Holcomb and husband Mike; daughter Darla Clark Sulecki and husband Tim; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.

The family would like to express our thanks to the numerous hospital and rehab center staff of Providence Hospital, St. Catherine’s Center and Brookdale Lakeshore Living Center. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to a local Veteran’s organization, VFW Post, or civic organization.
