Dean was born a true redhead, freckle faced little boy to Lila Dell and Charles Wayne Lyon July 2, 1940 at their home in Billington, Texas. He passed away on August 12, 2022 at his home in Mt.Calm, Texas.

Visitation: 6 – 8pm Tuesday, August 16 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel.

Memorial Service: 1pm Wednesday, August 17 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel. Reception to follow.

Dean lived up to the active, adventurous and mischievousness nature of redheads. He was a football player at La Vega High School where he attended his entire school career and graduated in 1959. On July 10, 1959, Dean served our country by joining the Air Force. He was stationed in Alaska and became a Meteorologist and weather observer. Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force on July 9, 1963, Dean obtained a job at General Motors in Arlington, Texas. He married Joyce Pearson in April of 1964. They made their home in Arlington and their three children – Lesa, Missy and Jeff came along and made their family complete. The family moved to Mt Calm to live on the Lyon Family farm in 1980. Of all of the titles Dean held in his life, he treasured being a dad, papaw and great papaw. Even in his 80s, he could be found sitting in the floor playing with the children. He would do silly things that made them laugh, and treasured any time that he was able to spend with them.

We appreciate you CELEBRATING the life of Dean with us. He never missed an opportunity to help someone in need, as he had a true servant’s heart. He never missed an opportunity to pull a prank or make someone laugh as he loved to smile and to see others smile. In Dean’s honor and memory, help someone this week, and make somebody smile.

Dean was preceded in death by his mother, his father, an infant sister, and his infant grandson, Justin Lyon.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Joyce Ann Pearson Lyon; his children all of Waco, Lesa Lyon Williams and husband Mickey Williams, Missy Lyon Mitchell and husband Rusty Mitchell, and Jeff Lyon; sisters, Janice Morgan and husband Charles, Sharon Burnett and husband Max, and Karen Rankin and husband Dazell; grandchildren, Branna Brock and Caleb Deike, Emily and Wyatt Wilson, Sarah and Willie Lathers, Colby Lyon, Travis Flanary, Gabi Greene, and Mariah and Thomas Kilbride; grandchildren by marriage, Shelby Bergman and Lydia Lyon; great grandchildren, Aria Deike, Tyson, Tate Kilbride, Nellie Lyon, Easton and Everly Wilson,  Callan, Carsynn and Camdynn Lathers; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and special family friend, Ann Calton
