Carole Sue Vander-Meulen, 69, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother of Clifton, TX passed away on Monday, February 7th, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. after battling Pulmonary Fibrosis. A memorial will be held on Thursday, February 10th, 2011 at 2:00pm at Lake Whitney Baptist Church, 642 FM 3118 Laguna Park, TX 76644.

Carole is survived by her loving husband and soul-mate of 45 1/2 years, Hershel and their children, grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and family and friends. She worked for Blevins Popcorn in Dallas and retired in 1987 to take care of her husband. They moved to Cedar Creek Lake and she "got serious" about her fishing. On one of our fishing trips while her husband was driving, Carole was riding in back of the boat with her grandson. She bent over to get some bait and Hershel hit the gas and GRANDSON said, "GRANDPA!! Granny is gone!!" We heard some splashing, turned around and Carole was floating in the water headed back to the bank!!

Later on, Carole worked part-time all over the State of Texas for the US Army Corp of Engineers, leaving her plenty of time for recreation and traveling.

Carole has always had a love for animals and especially dogs. She has raised champion Belgian Sheepdogs, Keeshonds, and later downsized to Pomeranians. How do you go from larger breeds to such lap babies, we don’t know but they have become the second love of her life. We kids all know we have lots of siblings, but never knew we would continue to grow in family size with them having four legs in lieu of our two.

Carole has always been expert in the kitchen; just look at Hershel for the "proof". She was a proud Democrat who loved to argue politics with her son and always had to have the last word.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
