Cannon “Brother” Hayes Rush, 20, tragically passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022.

Memorial Service:
11 AM Wednesday, May 18 at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel. CLICK HERE to view the Live Stream of the service.

Cannon was born on March 13, 2002 in Waco. He brought so much joy into this world as soon as he entered it. Cannon attended Hallsburg, Axtell, and Mart schools, and made many long time friends along the way. Cannon was an amazing showman. He loved showing his pigs and he was great at it. He was finally able to “double-dip” the York class his senior year, bringing home both “Champion” and “Reserve” banners. Cannon was also very athletic and loved to play football, basketball, and baseball. His passions were riding his ripstik, snowboarding, fishing, and hunting. He spent many hours online talking smack to his friends on his Xbox. When he was 16, he was given his best four-legged friend, Willow. She was his baby. Cannon graduated in May of 2020 and immediately bought his dream vehicle; his excavator. He always loved to run heavy machinery. At the time of his death, he was self-employed and living his dream. Cannon was always known for his warm smile, and unbelievably kind heart. He cared deeply for others and was extremely selfless. Cannon will forever be missed by his many friends and loving family.

Cannon was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Brenda Rush.

Cannon is survived by his parents, Ben and Tricia Rush; sister, Kinsey Rush; grandparents, Ronnie and Carolyn Reat; aunts and uncles, Ronnie (Bubba) and Karen Reat, Brad and Natalie Gooden, Nikkey Freeman, and Blaine and Heather Spann; girlfriend, Lauren Aleman; best friend and fur baby, Willow; and countless extended family and friends.

The family of Cannon Rush would like to give a special thank you to the Waco Police Department along with all first responders and volunteers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Methodist Children’s Home or Cribs for Canines, who dropped everything to bring Willow home.

Condolence from Jada Wise on May 16th, 2022 2:30 pm

You were one of my Bestfriend’s… we grew so close, then I came to college. You always supported me in what I do. My only motivation to finish class and get my degree was the remembrance of your loving support and how you said you wanted to see me on tv. Words cannot describe how much I love you. I’ve seen your growth and determination to blossom where you were planted, and I’m grateful to have seen a glimpse of it. After all that’s going on in the world, you never once made me feel uncomfortable. Our talks will forever run through my head. Thank you for sharing your sweet soul with me. I will forever miss you cowboy. ❤️I graduated my first two years of college in honor of you. I’m sorry I didn’t get to see you within these two years. Once again I love you, and I’m proud of the things you accomplished down here. No matter how far I go in my journey, you will always be on my mind.

Sincerely, Jada Boo.

Ben, Trish, Kinsey, Lauren, and all who love Cannon dearly,
Our sincere and heartfelt condolences to all of you. Cannon must be looking around Heaven…taking it all in…the colors our eyes have never seen, the music our ears have never been blessed to hear. When he came face to face with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, he must have felt such overwhelming peace and love. We struggle on Earth, as our souls ache for those we’ve lost. Yet they are in Heaven feeling sorry for us down here and thinking, “Man, wait ’til you see this place!”
We are keeping you foremost in our thoughts, hearts, and prayers as you struggle through the days ahead.

We forget how brief and fragile our lives can be, but we are promised in God’s Word that when we go to our Lord and our loved ones one day; we WILL recognize them!! Tricia, you’ve always had a special place in my heart, and as mothers of sons, we know what a blessing they are to our lives. I pray that the Lord will sustain you and your family every day in the coming weeks, months, and years, and as you turn to the Holy Spirit, He will wrap you up in love, comfort, and strength as you give thanks for your many precious memories.
