Brit Kerr

Brit

Briton Reece Kerr, 25, of China Spring, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025 in Waco from a long illness.

Memorial Visitation: 6 to 8PM Wednesday, March 12 at Lake Shore Funeral Home.

A private Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.

Brit was born in Waco to Duane and Stacey Kerr. He was a 2017 graduate of Bosqueville High School.

Brit attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock from 2017 through 2021 in the College of Media & Communications. During his time in Lubbock, Brit was an active member of the Zeta Eta chapter of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Brit thrived in this brotherhood of men and was loved by the entire chapter for his outgoing and caring personality. His greatest contribution to the fraternity was producing and performing at the fraternity’s annual charity concert which benefited Alstrom’s Angels, a local Lubbock charity.

Lubbock’s thriving music scene was one of Brit’s greatest joys, as he actively participated in the town’s historic community of musicians. Venues such as Blue Light Live, Cook’s Garage and many others gave Brit and his band the opportunity to play live music for friends and strangers alike throughout his college career. Brit enjoyed writing music during this time and released several songs to radio and streaming platforms, following his original EP “Careless Kids” which was released in 2017. Above all Brit loved the friends he made at Texas Tech, with strong relationships stretching from the Panhandle down to Houston. He will be missed by many.

Over the years, Brit opened concerts for many Texas Country music stars ranging from Gary P Nunn, Cody Canada, Parker McCollum to The Turnpike Troubadours. His love for Texas Country music was immeasurable and was his passion.

Brit was preceded in death by his mother, Stacey Kerr; grandfather, Travis Kinsey; grandmother, Peggy Kerr; and cousin, Reid Petree.

Brit is survived by his father, Duane Kerr of China Spring; grandmother, Charlotte Kinsey of Moody; grandfather, Jimmie Kerr of China Spring; great grandmother, Tommie Kerr; aunt and uncle, Misty and Shawn Petree of Moody; cousin, Ross Petree of Moody; and uncle, Brian Kerr of China Spring.

Special thanks from our family to Tate Williams, Nathan Necessary, Jon Kazanas, aunt Janice Royle, Alyssa Railsback, and the staff at Baylor Scott and White.
