Billy Joe Walter, 88, of McGregor, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2021.

Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, July 21, at Lake Shore Funeral Home.

A celebration of Billy’s life: 11 a.m. Thursday, July 22, at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel.

Entombment: Chapel Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Billy was born on March 10, 1933 in Lorena, TX, to Jim and Ollie Walter. He was a graduate of Lott High School. He worked at Owens-Illinois Glass Plant and retired after over 40 years of service. On November 4, 1951 he married the love of his life Shirley Odenbach. They were married for 64 years.

Billy enjoyed spending his time outdoors fishing, and hunting. He loved to travel to the mountains of Colorado. There he spent time camping in the National Forests where he could enjoy fishing and sight-seeing with his beloved Shirley. He cherished spending time with his family and was always there to give guidance or to lend a helping hand anytime they needed anything.

He was preceded in death by parents; wife, Shirley; daughter, Karen; brothers, Cecil, Louie, and Arvis; and sisters, Jimia Lee and Louise.

He is survived by daughters, Debbie Walter, Jan Ammann, and Connie Heinselman and husband Randy; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
