Betty Ruth Stephens, 64, of Hewitt, devoted wife, mother, sister, nurse and friend to all, passed away Monday April 20, 2009 at a local hospital. Funeral Services will be 11AM Thursday, April 23rd at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Edwin Lipsey officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8PM Wednesday, April 22nd at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco. Betty was born August 31, 1944 in Corsicana to Wilmer Wanye and Madie Ruth (Hamilton) Lipsey and was raised in Hubbard. She married Carl Stephens on January 25, 1964 in Waco. She worked many years as an LVN, including twelve years for Dr. Raley at Hillcrest Clinic in Hewitt, and ten years for Dr. Kleiman. She was a member of Harvest Time Revival Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers.

Survivors include husband of 46 years, Carl Stephens of Hewitt; daughter, Melinda Stephens of Keller; sisters, Margaret Walls of Ennis and Doris Moore of Robinson; and brothers, Buck Lipsey of Waxahachie and Donnie Lipsey of Tyler.

She will be greatly missed.

It was a long road for Betty in the last years and half and it was a testament to her strength and resiliancy. I loved "Steady Betty". I remember her best running the show and telling me and Melinda what "we needed to do". She was such a funny lady who brought such fun and laughter to the room. She will be missed. I love ya Mimi Grace and will always be with you and a friend to you.

  12. I loved my aunt betty with all my heart. She was my families personal doctor and marriage counselor and photographer we used to kid her about that alot. I will miss her smile and laugh and the way she said my name. I love aunt betty. To Melinda it is hard to lose one of the closest people you’ll ever know but your family will be there. I am so sorry.
