The Life of Alvin Leo Medlock

Sunrise: December 24, 1949 – Sunset: October 4, 2021

Alvin Leo Medlock, 71, passed away Monday, October 4, 2021.

Service Information: Homegoing Service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 9, at Lake Shore Funeral Home.

On December 24, 1949, the late Vernon Medlock & Delores Medlock-Thomas in Mexia, TX were blessed with a loving son Alvin Medlock.

He relocated to Dallas in 1954 and attended schools there and graduated from James Madison High School.

Alvin accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and continued to build a strong relationship with God. Alvin enjoyed listening to his favorite Gospel singer Lee Williams and others l each morning to motivate him to drive from Dallas to Waco, Temple, Killeen and return back to Dallas each day.  Over the years Alvin continued to work with C&D Courier until he retired in 2018. While on his route he encountered a wonderful woman by the name of Izola Murrell who he later married for 17 years until he was called home from Labor to Rest. He spent his time with family and friends with the joy of racing motorcycles at Yelly Belly Drag Strip located in Grand Prairie, TX.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Medlock & Delores Medlock-Thomas; daughter, Alicia Broussard-Medlock; maternal aunt, Dorothy Thompson and uncle, Wilmer Thompson.

He leaves behind a wife, Izola Medlock; brothers, Howard Medlock and Billy Medlock of Dallas; daughters, Shena Alexander of Garland,TX, Sholanda Medlock-Brown of Dallas,TX, Tyisha Hogan of Georgetown, TX; sons, Tyrone Jones of Austin, Larry Jones, Jr of  South Bend IN; eight grand-children, Dykwan Medlock, Willie Brown, Jacob Flowers, Deonte Brown, Dre’Shun Flowers, Ky’Aundre Beachum, Kayla Beachum, Myracle Jones; 8 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

No words can describe or explain how sad I am to hear of the loss of my brother in law Alvin. Someone so special will never be forgotten. May your memories of him give you peace and comfort. I knew we had a jewel in Alvin but did not realize how rare he was until today. He was always so kind to me and respectful, I felt like big Sis., I will miss the big hugs right under my neck.(giggles). Out of the years I have been on this earth I never witnessed motorcycles in this number and the number people who showed love.
