Alberta was born October 16, 1931, to Lennie Saul and Burl Callier Elliott of Waco, Texas. Alberta was one of six children: Mae Kyle Prentis Elliott of Denver, Colorado, Earl Louis Elliott of Lubbock, Texas, Saul Callier Elliott of Waco, Texas, and Annie Ruth Elliott Bolden of Denver, Colorado, all deceased. Her surviving sibling is Gerald Wayne Elliott of Waco, Texas.

Alberta graduated from Moore High School in Waco, Texas. During her high school years she became very focused on learning and teaching. She graduated from Huston-Tillotson College in Austin, Texas in 1952 with a B.S. in Education. After college, she married Ulysses Cosby and raised two beautiful children, Keith Anthony and Debra Gail Cosby Johnson, both of Waco, Texas.

Perhaps the most impactful and important way Alberta will be remembered is by the lives she touched in her community, family and friends through her ministry. Alberta was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Christian Witnesses on October 10, 1970, in the Greater Waco area where she preached and taught countless individuals. She lived her life following the pattern that Jesus Christ set in reaching out to share the bible’s message. She was unselfish in the love she showed and tirelessly worked to share the message of hope from the bible with any and everyone she came in contact with over the past 52 years.

Alberta was preceded in death by her husband Ulysses Cosby in 1988.  She is survived by her brother, Gerald Wayne Elliott Sr.; son, Keith Anthony Cosby; daughter, Debra Gail Cosby Johnson, all of Waco, Texas; grandson, Robert Louis Johnson, Jr. of Jersey City, New Jersey; granddaughter, Misti Johnson Mostiller (Steven Q.) of Waco, Texas; granddaughter, Victoria Janae Cosby Jordan (Steven) of Terrell, Texas; great grandsons, Kalil Johnson-Washington, Kaden Samuel Mostiller, George Anthony Jordan, and Louis River Johnson; great granddaughters, Andrea Janae Jordan, Alice Kathryn Johnson of Stockholm, Sweden; nephews, Leslie Raymond Bolden (Quintessa) of Houston Texas, Gerald Wayne Elliot Jr. of White Plains, New York, Saul C. Elliot (aka JuneBug), Gregory Prentis of Denver, Colorado, Brett Prentis of Arizona, and Darryl Prentis of San Francisco, California; nieces, Sherry Elliott, Vickie Elliott Griffin (Gerry) of Lancaster, Texas; Trina Rodgers, Anita Satchell of Denver, Colorado, Lisa Prentis of Denver, Colorado, Alexa Elliot, Kezia Footman (aka Jimmy), Shellia Jimenez of Joliet, Illinois and “adopted sons”, Dwight Battle, Sr. and Dwight Battle, Jr. Anyone who knew Alberta loved her and she had many other “sons” and “daughters” that she loved unconditionally who are not listed.

Place of Service: Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel , 5201 Steinbeck Bend; Waco, TX 76708

Condolence Messages

  1. Alberta was a spiritual mother to the full extent. All memories of her are full of laughter and Love.

  2. My prayers and thoughts are with her family.
To Keith and Debra, you all had very sweet mother. She taught me and I can remember how she took time and would explain things to me I didn’t understand. She was always smiling with a kind loving spirit. It seems hard right now, but God is going to give you all the strength to endure this doing this trying time. I have many prayers for you ❤️🙏🏽❤️

  3. I’m so grateful for the example and impact Alberta had on my life as a child and teenager growing up in East Waco congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. I can fondly remember the spiritual guidance and training she provided me as we went in the ministry together and ate lunch at her house that she fixed for me. 🥰 She encouraged me to use my life serving Jehovah. She is one reason why I’ve been pioneering throughout my life for many years. Her faithful example is one I’ll always cherish. I look forward to welcoming her back in the new world. Certainly Jehovah is saying, “well done my precious daughter “ with regard to her loyalty and obedience. I send my compassion, many condolences and prayers to the family! May Jehovah continue to be with you and comfort you all!
    With much love, 💕

    To Debra & Keith,
My condolences are extended to you and your family. Your mother was a jewel and always remembered her students and you all’s classmates. Although she did not teach me in elementary school, we met @ Wiley Junior High School When I last saw her @ Robert’s viewing, she still remembered our growing up days, with her beautiful smile. Cherish the memories. Praying for everyone.

  6. I have so many great memories of sis Crosby her taking me and my sisters to school, going to hangout at her house and her famous drink apple juice and 7up., seeing her at the meetings, conventions ( always wearing that amazing smile). but my most memorable moment was one that made her my role model and the reason I do what I love today and that is looking after the elderly. It was the time that I spent at her house as a young girl and watching her take care of her husband with such a positive, patience, loving way. You can tell she had Jehovah spirit. These last couple of month looking after her I can say was my most rewarding time. To seat and talk and laugh and share stories about serving Jehovah. She will grateful be missed.
I love you alway hope to see u and my father in Paradise .
