Al Lynch, 73, of Waco, went to be with the Lord, Friday, August 1, 2014.

VISITATION: 6-8 PM, Wednesday, August 6th, at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel, 5201 Steinbeck Bend Dr, Waco, 76708

GRAVESIDE FUNERAL SERVICE: 9 AM, Thursday, August 7th, Bosqueville Cemetery, 7327 Rock Creek Road in Waco.

Al was born Alfred Lynch, Jr. in West, Texas, the baby of seven children, and was raised by his loving parents, Andy and Alma (Lynch) Coggin. In 1959, he graduated from Hillsboro High School, and continued his education at TSTI of Waco, graduating as a Mechanical Parts Technician.

Before working as a parts mechanic, Al was a musician for many years, playing with legendary artists such as Willie Nelson, Ray Price, and Merle Haggard, to name a few. He was an awesome singer and song writer, and played the bass guitar with ease. After years of playing in Honky-Tonks, he turned his love of music to embrace the Lord and spread the gospel with his amazing talents.  Alfred enjoyed going to church and studying the bible, setting an example of how to live your life for the Lord. He served many years as a deacon of a local Waco church. Oftentimes, to relax, Al would sit on his back porch, and watch God’s creations all around him. He took every opportunity to answer anyone’s questions about the Bible and God.

Alfred met and married the love of his life, Miss Judy Rosemond in 1960, and their marriage was blessed with five beautiful children. He loved spending time with  his family, and was incredibly proud of each child and their life accomplishments and milestones. Alfred was a devoted husband and father, loved his precious Judy more than words could say, and always made time to be a daddy to his children when they needed him.

Alfred was also a man with a soft heart for animals, and took many into his home through the years. His special dog, Emmie Bell, was his little shadow, worshiping the ground he walked on, and, of course, Alfred was very fond of his dogs as well. Spud was his outdoor companion, and his buddy til the end.

Al enjoyed nature, camping, and fishing, and made the best BBQ ribs you EVER ate! He was a regular at George’s on Speight, and enjoyed spending time there with his many friends, and his special waitress, Annie. He enjoyed listening to Rush Limbaugh and his favorite movies were Old Westerns. Al will be missed by so many.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Christopher Dean Lynch and Geoffrey Scott Lynch; three brothers, Daniel, William Henry, and Earl Lynch; and one sister, Betty Lynch.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Judy, of Waco; two sons, Alfred Allen Lynch and wife Sandy of China Spring, and Rodney Stephen Lynch and Allison of Waco; one daughter, Cynthia Nicole Warner of Waco; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Taylor and husband James of Waco, and Mae Evelyn Settle of Baytown; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other dear family members.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommie Metcalf, Jackie Brewer, Bob Hollingsworth, Jake Roberts, Jimmy Walts, John Griffin, Johnny Ferrill, John Monk, Jack Pedigo, JD Lamb, and Larry Lemay.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the nursing staff at Providence Hospice and Hospital, including every staff member there, as you were all so very kind. Thank you as well to the CHF Clinic staff for their attention and care during our time there. Also, special thanks and love from the family goes out to Dena Toten, Al’s physical therapist with Home Health Care, who went above and beyond in her work with Al. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in honor of Al be made to Providence Hospice Place.

Place of Service: Bosqueville Cemetery , 7327 Rock Creek Rd.; Waco, TX 76708

I have so many wonderful wonderful memories of this kind, caring, jovial, lovable, jokester, hard working, hard living husband, father, father in law, grandfather and great grandfather. The example he made for his children and grandchildren can’t be denied. I love each and every one of them and am so proud to call them my family. I will miss you and your amazing stories so much but I know The Lord has his plans for you to continue your journey with him. God blessed us with your spirit that we now will pass to our children and theirs. Love you dad.

Condolence from Kenneth & Gloria Davis on August 7th, 2014 4:15 pm

Alfred & I were best friends from the time we met in Jr. High all through high school. He taught me how to tune & play my first steel guitar & we played lots of music over the years even winning District in the FFA contest in 1958. We played for several Jr./Sr. proms in ’58 thru 61. We also enjoyed working on our old cars, I think his first one was a 1940 model Chevy!! We also wound up being our Ag teachers roommate on the trip to the National FFA convention in Kansas City, MO That was an experience!! We were also in the First Baptist Church here in Hillsboro together & were Baptized as believers in Christ during a revival in the early 50’s. We also remember very well when he & Judy married!! I was hoping we would get to see them at Homecoming this year since it will be our 55th. Judy & Family, our prayers are with you, we have been blessed by you & Al just thru a lot of fond memories & all the good times in dear ‘ol Hillsboro! Love from us to you & your family!! Ken & Gloria

That engineer looked like Alfred. and had his manner isms.
When we would do an overnight turn around in Forgan, OK he would play the guitar in the depot.

We had pulled 127 box cars loaded with wheat out of the Oklahoma panhandle.
Nice to remember good times about Alfred.
