Lary Dean Kosar was born to William and Grace Kosar in Creston, Iowa, on December 31, 1942, and spent his childhood in Messina, Iowa. On March 31, 2025, at the age of 82, he peacefully passed away at home, surrounded by his loved ones. He is leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and dedication.
Visitation: 5pm to 7pm Monday, April 7, 2025 at Lake Shore Funeral Home
Graveside Service: 11am Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Bosqueville Cemetery
From a young age, Lary accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior, a faith that remained the foundation of his life. He graduated from C&M Community School on May 25, 1962, before serving his country with honor in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
After his service, Lary settled in Waco, Texas, where he met the love of his life, Patricia Kosar. They were married on March 24, 1967, and shared 58 years of unwavering love and devotion. Together, they were faithful members of Highland Baptist Church and, later in life, attended Renovation Church.
Lary was a highly skilled diesel mechanic who dedicated well over 30 years to Ellis McGinnis, working his way up to a supervisory role. He was known not only for his expertise but also for his kindness and willingness to lend a helping hand. His work ethic was only surpassed by his love for family. He cherished time spent with his loved ones, enjoyed coffee and conversation with friends, and found great satisfaction in working on projects. However, his happiest moments were at home with Patricia—remodeling, planning for the future, and simply enjoying life together.
Lary was preceded in death by his parents, William and Grace Kosar; his twin sister, Mary Stender; his brothers, Billy Kosar and Joseph Kosar; and his great granddaughter, Shawnee Walts.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Patricia Kosar; his brother, Johnny Kosar (Mary Ann); his children, Peggy McCollum (Ronald McCollum), Doris Chandler (David Chandler), Paula Kosar, and William Kosar (Kathy Kosar); 15 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Lary’s legacy of faith, hard work, and unwavering love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will remain forever cherished.
