Nancy Carrol Hamlin Richards (1939-2025)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Nancy Carrol Hamlin Richards, on February 13, 2025, at the age of 85 in Temple, Texas.
Nancy was born on October 4, 1939, in Austin, Texas, to Louis and Katherine Hamlin. She lived her life the best she knew and left this earth wishing that her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren would find safety in this mixed-up world. While our hearts mourn her loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering. In her final thoughts, she shared her pride and love for her family and friends.
Nancy proudly served her country as a member of the United States Air Force. Her time in service reflected her dedication and strength—qualities that remained with her throughout her life.
She found joy in simple pleasures and cherished time spent with loved ones. An avid reader, Nancy could often be found lost in the pages of a good book. She also had a passion for knitting and crocheting, creating beautiful pieces with care and skill. She enjoyed playing cards, putting puzzles together, and working on crossword puzzles alongside her children and friends—moments filled with laughter and companionship.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Katherine Hamlin; two brothers, Wayne and Bobby; and her son, Casey Dean Ellis. She is survived by her sister Patsy; three daughters, Tracy (Bushra), Alison, and Stacy; eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
In the last year of her life, Nancy was fortunate to meet a wonderful friend, Ms. Lilly. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Lilly for being such a dear companion to their mother. They also wish to express their deep appreciation to the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living, Mercy House and Suncrest Hospice for their kindness and care.
Nancy’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.

Mom, you are the best of the best. I will miss you forever. You were so happy when you saw that your girls were with you a month before you passed for 2 weeks. My biggest regret is that I was not able to spend more time with you. I love you to the moon and the stars and for all the universe. Rest in peace, Mummy.
Mom I love you and miss you,
