
Betty Jane Black, 88, of Waco, Texas, was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on January 11, 2025.

Betty was born on March 20, 1936 in Otto, TX to parents Albert and Bertha Bennett. She was baptized on May 17, 1936 and confirmed on April 2, 1950. She met the love of her life J Robbin Black in Waco, Texas and was married on May 8, 1954 in Mount Calm, Texas. They were married for 65 years.
She was a faithful servant of the Lord and served as a Lutheran Braille Worker and charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waco. Betty worked at Kmart and M&M Mars prior to her retirement. She was a devoted wife and mother to her three children. She loved tending to the various varieties of flowers in her yard.
She was preceded in death by her husband, JR Black; two sons, Glen Ray Black and Milton Lee Black; son in law, Stephen Luke; sisters, Martha Humphrey, Myrtle Koester, Ruby Bridges, Gertrued Roush, and Shirley Ann Bennett; brothers, Charles Winkelmann, and Herbert, Edward, Harvey, Clarence, and JE Bennett.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Janet Kay Luke; daughter in law, Wanda Black; sister-in-law, Alice Bennett; brother-in-law, Eddie Humphery; grandchildren, Jennifer, Tommy, Robert, Ashley, and Sarah; and an abundance of great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Betty was an amazing neighbor and friend who looked after my mom when she moved back to Waco. We are so lucky to have her as a part of our lives.
