
Martín Gayton Rodríguez, lovingly known as “Caterpillar Martín,” passed away on January 5, 2025, in Waco, Texas, at the age of 81. He was born on November 11, 1943, in Speegleville, Texas, to Manuel Rodríguez and Bacilia Gayton.

Martín shared over 50 years of marriage with his first love, Geralda Mata, until her passing in 2013. In April 2015, he found love again and married Maria Juana Lara. A devoted family man, Martín was a cherished father, husband, grandfather, uncle, and brother.
He dedicated five decades of his life to construction as a heavy machine operator, working with Kutch Construction and other local companies. Known for his strong work ethic and skillful hands, Martín left a lasting mark on the industry and those who worked alongside him.
Martín found joy in simple pleasures such as fishing, trying his luck with lottery tickets, and savoring good food. He was a man of faith who attended Shekina Church and lived a life rooted in devotion to his loved ones.
He is survived by his daughter Mary Olvera and her husband Cruz; grandchildren, Geralda Morales, Franchesca Morales, Michael Morales, Miguel Morales, Manuel Morales, and Mercedes Ibarra; and three great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Geralda Rodríguez and his daughter, Janie Sanchez.

Uncle Martin, I remember being a kid and going to your house, you always made sure that y’all had a big jar of pickles knowing that I loved them.
