Segars

Lucille “Lucy” Ann Segars, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, went to her heavenly home Monday, June 6, 2022 at the age of 59, surrounded by her family.

Visitation: 5 -7PM Thursday, June 9 at Lake Shore Funeral Home

Celebration of Life: 4PM Sunday, June 12 at Old Bethany Venue in Lorena, Texas

Lucy was born in Waco to father, Roy Lee Taylor and mother, Ann Anderson, February 10, 1963. She grew up in Speegleville and graduated from Crawford High School.

Lucy was a successful real estate appraiser for over 25 years. Although she enjoyed this work and was exceptionally good at it, her passion was in her work with Bridges to Life. She began volunteering with Bridges to Life 20 years ago in 2002 as a crime victim speaker. During Lucy’s tenure with Bridges to Life, the program expanded into 11 units in the Waco region with over 6,000 inmate graduates of the program just in Lucy’s region. She was on staff 16 years with Bridges to Life and retired this past February. She impacted countless lives with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and helped many crime victim volunteers, facilitators, and inmates experience peace and healing in their lives.

People would describe Lucy as the “sweetest person they knew”. She was kindhearted and accepting of everyone. Her spunky attitude and outlook on life was contagious and beautiful. Lucy found her soulmate in her beloved husband, Wade Segars. Lucy and Wade were married for 12 beautiful years and completed each other perfectly. Lucy loved many things, but her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. Her two grandsons, Callahan Murray and Smith Murray, lovingly know Lucy as “Ana”, and cherished her as their grandmother. She was also ecstatic to welcome a granddaughter in just a month and the first “Murray girl” to join the short line of Murray boys. Lucy loved Jesus and had a thriving relationship with the Lord. Her loving and servant-hearted spirit constantly pointed others to Jesus.

Lucy is preceded in death by her mother, Ann Anderson, and father, Roy Lee Taylor.

Lucy leaves behind to carry her legacy, beloved husband, Wade Segars; two extremely handsome and smart sons, Andrew and Austin Murray; daughters-in-law, Lauren and Jordanna Murray; grandsons, Callahan and Smith Murray; stepdaughter, Lexi Shilling and husband Dustin Shilling; siblings, Matt Taylor and wife Lilly, Chris Taylor and wife Sheralee, Lisa Hutson and husband Will, and Joanie Ruetz; as well as many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Memorials can be made to Unbound, a non-profit that she was excited to start volunteering with, or any local charity of your choice.

Condolences for the family of “Lucille “Lucy” Ann Segars”

Condolence from Alicia Cox on June 9th, 2022 3:07 pm

Lucy & I go way back to our first job @ Jerry’s Perfect Pets on a Richland Mall early 1980’s.
We kept in touch & would see each other around town. She was the kind of person that no matter how long it had been since you last saw her, she would just pick up where you had left off, she was a true friend. I was so proud of her for the ministry work she did. She loved life, loved her family, adored her sons & was over the moon for her Grandkids.
Her time here on earth was short but she touched so many lives while she was here.
I am sorry for your loss.
She will be missed .

Condolence from Deborah Hartman on June 10th, 2022 9:15 am

I never in a million years thought I’d be sitting here trying to think of something to write because Lucy has gone to be with the Lord so unexpectedly. I have known Lucy for about 20 years as a Coworker and Friend. We did not see one another a lot because our Regions were not close but we always connected when we did. I am thankful that I can still say “I LOVE LUCY” simply because I know that even though she is not in a place that I can call her , or go visit, I am confident that she is in a much better place and still very much alive!
I love her, I like her , I laughed with her( so many times), I cried with her and quite frankly, I was shocked by her boldness at times as well!  I really wish we would have  found more time to spend together  outside of work. I didn’t realize, until the last few years ,that we had so much in common. The last time we were together, I went to her house so we could ride together up to the BTL Dinner in Dallas. I had the most fun I have had with someone in a very long time. I will never forget laughing until I hurt and am so thankful that is how I will remember Lucy until I can see her again. My heart goes out to her husband Wade, her sister , her children, her grandchildren and all those who love her and really knew her. I trust that God will comfort them as they mourn and that soon their pain will be replaced by smiles as they think of the times they had together here on Earth and will have with her again, one day. I will pray for them whenever God brings her to my mind. I LOVE YOU LUCY and will look forward to  seeing  you again!
By the way… When I said, “YOU JUMP, I JUMP !” I wasn’t talking about … LOL!
Love your sister and friend ,
Deborah

Condolence from Carrie Pierce on June 10th, 2022 6:23 pm

Lucy had contacted me by email a couple times lately, wanting to talk so she could share thoughts and memories regarding my recently deceased Mom. We were coordinating schedules so we could do so, and I was so looking forward to the chance to reconnect with her after decades.
I can’t believe she’s gone. I grieve the loss of her- and the loss of the memories she wanted to share with me.
I remember her from High School; so full of life.
The world has lost a very bright light and my heart goes out to those she has left behind.
Prayers being said for the tough and painful days ahead.
Heaven has welcomed one of its finest Home.

Condolence from Carmen Burkhart on June 11th, 2022 12:18 am

Lucy and I were friends from way back in high school. We had so many laughs riding around in her cigar van! We were young wild and free! As time moved on I admired Lucy for her work ethic and responsible nature. Lucy made her family proud and was kind and loving to everyone. Her late mother Ann was the jewel in her heart and Lucy had a witty funny personality like her mom. Lucy loved her brothers and sisters, children, husband, and grandchildren! Steadfast and strong Lucy embraced helping others at
through prison ministry. Sometimes we just don’t know who God will call home unexpectedly. It is so painful to not get to say goodbye especially to a sibling! My heart goes out to her family because I know this pain. God needed her expertise and the person she was early. Lucy made a remarkable brave stance an contribution on this earth and now she has gone to be rewarded by our Lord early. Shockingly I have witnessed this before.
Tha pain of loss is huge for her friends and family. Please lord help her family cope with their loss because I know how much they love her! Amen.

I’m so sorry to hear of Lucy’s passing. She was my first boss at Jerry’s Perfect Pets, supported during my parents divorce and a true and loyal friend. I was very privileged to have known such a true friend and a beautiful lady who touched every life she came into contact with. I think of her often and cannot think of one negative thought when her name crosses my mind. She will be missed and was loved by so many people.
