Mary Jo Marek (Nana), 73, gained her angel wings on Saturday, January 29, 2022, in Waco.

Visitation: 3-5pm Sunday February 6, 2022 at Lake Shore Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 1pm Monday, February 7, 2022, at Lake Shore Funeral Home with Pastor Ronnie Holmes officiating.

Mary Jo Marek (Nana) was born March 26,1948, in Crockett to parents, Joseph and Ora Bell Goldhagen. She was a loving wife, mother and Nana. She married Ladis Marek in Waco and they had 3 children together. She was deeply involved in helping others.  She enjoyed working at the Food Pantry at Church of The Open Door. She loved to sing and play the Piano, and spending time with her grandchildren. Her family and friends will always remember her as a caring and loving person. She loved attending church and spending time with family and friends. She was affectionately known to everyone as “Nana”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ora Bell Goldhagen; brothers, Bobby Goldhagen, James L Powell, Joe Powell, Lawrence Powell, Donald Powell, John Powell, and David Powell.

Survivors include husband, Ladis Marek of Waco; children, Robert Marek of Waco, and Ladis (Joe) Marek and wife Amy of West, Lisa Marek Grismore and husband Ron of Waco; grandchildren, Lora Jones and husband De Marcus, Scott Marek and wife Charity, Marlana Grismore, Kyle Marek, and Karsen Marek; great grandchildren, Matthew Jones and  Sutton Marek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
