Memorial Service: Sunday, June 28, 2015 at Speegleville Saddle Club, 2:00 p.m.

Wayne was born on November 17, 1944 in Austin, TX. He later moved to Waco, Texas and attended Waco Schools. In 1963 he married Pamela Morrow. Wayne was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2005. After surgery the cancer was dormant for two years. In 2012, the cancer returned. He put up a courageous fight.

He is survived by his wife, Pam of Waco; daughter, Kim Beatty and husband Chris of Waco; son Tommy and his wife Cheri of Speegleville; four grandchildren: Chelsea Dragoo, Lauren and husband Keith Beard, Brady Morriss, Seth Toten, and Brandon Morriss; three great-grandchildren: Layne, Landon and Ethan; and a brother, Wade Morriss and wife Judy of Cleburne.

Pam and Wayne celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2013. Wayne worked as a truck driver for the CertainTeed until he decided to pursue a career in law enforcement. He received police training through HOTCOG, and started his career as an officer in Mart, TX. He also worked for Hewitt PD and McLennan County Constable Office. He retired in 2007 from Richland Mall Security as Assistant Director of Security.

Wayne enjoyed writing “Cowboy Poetry” and was a very good story teller about his “life” experiences. Most of the poetry was based on his personal experience as a Rodeo Clown with his brother Wade and bull riding experiences.

The family would like to thank Providence Hospice, Community Cancer Association and Texas Oncology and St. Catherine’s.
