Tomas Vasquez, Sr., 53, of Waco, passed away Monday, September 29th at a Dallas hospital.

Funeral Services: 10AM Friday, October 3rd at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Visitation: 6 to 8PM Thursday, October 2nd at Lake Shore Funeral Home

Tomas was born December 20, 1960 in Zacatecas, Mexico. He moved to Waco in 1977 and in June of 1981 he met his wife, Maria Andrade. Together they had three children. Tomas was a devoted father and husband who worked very hard to provide for his family and his beloved pets. He had a larger than life personality, whose love and work ethic were a constant source of inspiration to all of those that surrounded him.

Survivors include his wife, Maria Silveria Vasquez; sons, Tomas Vasquez, Jr. and Milton Vasquez; daughter, Maria Silvia Vasquez; parents, Tiburcio and Augustina Vasquez; brothers, Jose Vasquez, Candelario Vasquez, Pedro Vasquez and Vincente Vasquez; sisters, Lorena Vasquez, Sirila Vasquez, Maria Esther Vasquez, Silvia Vasquez, Juana Vasquez and Angelina Vasquez; special cousin, Miguel Longoria-Basio; and numerous other family members.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to Dan Berkheimer and Miguel Longoria-Basio for coming to Tomas’ aid. They would also like to express their sincerest gratitude to Dr. Phelan and the entire Burn Unit at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas for their tireless efforts to save Tomas Vasquez, Sr.’s life. Additionally, a special thank you to Courtney Frost and Geoff Bell for their love and support.
