Robert Lee Strahl, 65, a lifelong resident of Waco, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2017.

Memorial Gathering & Reception: Robert’s family and friends will gather for a time of sharing memories and stories, Tuesday, October 24, 2017 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco.

Robert was born one of four children, to the late Francis Xavier and Bessielee Smith Strahl, August 7, 1952. After his schooling, Robert worked for over 34 years for the Texas Farm Bureau, as the Print Shop Manager. Robert married the love of his life, Debra J. Branch, October 1, 1999. He always had a flare for flashy cars, owning numerous classics over the years. His children and friends took every opportunity to tell him that he “enjoyed driving fast cars slowly”, maybe it was so everyone saw his car better. Robert enjoyed having a good time with friends and family and always had a hilarious story to share. He had great taste in music with the likes of “The Rolling Stones” and other groups that sang the classics. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Bessielee Strahl; his brother, Danny Strahl; and the love of his life, Debra Branch Strahl.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Kelli McCollum and husband, Warren of Lufkin; his son, Joe Strahl and wife, Stephanie of Cushing; his siblings, Gene Strahl and wife, Ruth and Bill Strahl; grandchildren, Madeline McCollum, Elizabeth McCollum, Emily Strahl, Jaxson Strahl and Reed Strahl; his favorite niece, Lolita Stewart and husband, Robbie; his best friend and running buddy, Keith Hayes; along with a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.

Robert’s family would like the doctors and nurses of the Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest ICU unit to know that they are very grateful for the extreme care and comfort given to them and especially to Robert in the last few weeks. The attention given to them and Robert brought great comfort and made the time there much easier.

In lieu of flowers, Robert’s family request memorial donations to be sent to Alcoholics Anonymous.

  6. I was sad to hear of Robert’s passing. I worked for Farm Bureau over 5 years and every workday was made brighter by talking with Robert. He was always friendly and helpful. I am grieved that he didn’t get to enjoy more of his retirement, but know that he is now at peace with the Lord. God Bless him and his family.
John 11:25-26 > 25) Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26) and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
Until we are all reunited in Heaven, adieu.

  7. I am so so sorry for your loss. Robert and I were best friends in high school. My heart is broken as I know yours must be. My prayers are with you and Robert.
