Richard Douglas Tighe, 70, of Waco, has been called home to his Lord. He passed peacefully in his home at 2:00 p.m. Friday August 18, 2017 surrounded by love after a sudden and brief battle with cancer.

Celebration of Life Service: 2:00 P.M. Sunday, August 20th at Bosqueville Baptist Church.

Rick was born to Leo Urban and Mary Francis Tighe on Dec 26, 1946 in Muncie, IN and was soon moved to El Paso where was raised. He married his High School sweetheart Candace Hervey on December 2nd, 1966 in El Paso. Together, for more than 50 years they have been the back bone of a large immediate and extended family that stretches to both coasts.

Beginning in 1968 with PSA Airlines in San Diego, Rick worked his entire career in the Aviation Maintenance industry, finally retiring from AAR in Oklahoma City in 2009.

Richard loved working and building things on his property, listening to and playing music, and spending time with his family. He will always be remembered by all who knew him for his beautiful singing voice while playing his guitar surrounded by loved ones and strangers alike; he was an amazing entertainer and loved to entertain. He and Candy created a home that was always welcoming, full of love and music. Rick Tighe loved the Lord, his church, and his life group.

Rick was preceded in Heaven by his Parents Leo and Mary Tighe; In-Laws, Malcolm and Virginia Miller; his brother, Rodger Allen Tighe; his best friend and brother in law, Frank Brennan; brother in law, Gary Moltane; and three nephews and a niece.

He is survived by his loving wife, Candace Hervey Tighe; his four children, Shawn Richard Tighe, Kimberley Rashawn McNamara, Jacob Taylor Tighe, and Lucas James Tighe along with granddaughter Kendall Ann Tighe; other surviving grandchildren, Paige & Tony Marino, Alyx Tighe, Bryan & Joni McNamara, Kyle McNamara, Caleb McNamara, Grace McNamara, Mercedes Baker, Andrew Baker, Jacob Tighe, Jr., and Elijah Douglas Tighe; and several great-grandchildren. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by several sister and brothers in-law; his brother, countless nephews and nieces; and a large extended family reaching far and wide.

Richard Douglas Tighe was a man who lived a full life and was loved by many. Though we will all miss him dearly, we know he is happy to be home with his Lord Jesus Christ.
