Nancy Eileen Green

obit 5

Nancy Eileen Green, 67, of Waco went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, August 6, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

Memorial Service: A celebration of Nancy’s life and her steadfast faith will be held at 10:00AM, Wednesday, August 9th, 2017 at Park Lake Baptist Church, 3701 North 27th Street in Waco.

Nancy was born May 20, 1950 in Andrews, Texas to the late Leroy and Margaret Nancy Crawford Wilkins. Nancy was raised at the Waco State Home and graduated from Waco High School. She went on to attend McLennan County Community College where she earned her Nursing Assistant certificate. Nancy loved children and had a passion for working with them both at church and with Durum Transportation, where she was a Bus Assistant for 17 years. Nancy married the love of her life, Donald Ray Green, on June 25, 1983 in McCamey, Texas. They have been long-time, active members at Park Lake Dr. Baptist. Nancy was a light in this world and was a witness wherever she went. Nancy loved reading the Bible, sewing, making jewelry and working with her flowers. Her family was very important to her, and spending time with her grandkids brought her great joy. She enjoyed caring for others and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. Even through her journey with breast cancer, Nancy was thinking of how her journey could help others. Nancy journaled everyday in hopes that her words might someday ease the burdens of others suffering with cancer. She was determined to not let the struggle with the disease overcome her. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Margaret Wilkins; her infant daughter, Polly Jean Stone; and her sister, Polly Thompson.

Nancy is survived by her loving husband of over 35 years, Don Green; her children, Phillip Stone and his wife Sharon, Tracey Green, Paul Stone and wife Cathie, and Robert Stone and his wife Kristin; her siblings, David Wilkins, Dean Wilkins and his wife Misty, Jody Wilkins, Dale Lemar Evans, Jesse Evans, Gene Evans, Julia Smith, and Tommy Brown; her beloved grandchildren, Brandon, Bradley, Kaylee, Madison, Robert, Trevor, Esperanza, and Duane; along with numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Nancy’s honor should be sent to the Baylor Scott and White McClinton Cancer Center.

Condolence Messages

  1. Mary (Barrington) Hopkins

I knew Nancy at West Jr and Waco High. I was privileged to reconnect with her via Facebook. She was a precious, sweet soul with an open, loving hear, t and will be greatly missed. God has His arms wrapped around you, and I will pray for your comfort and peace during this difficult time.

  2. We all enjoyed having Nancy in our Sunday School Class. She was an inspiration to us all. Each Sunday she would have some special word to add to the lesson, some concern about family and friends to share and ask for prayer. She knew her Bible well and quoted scripture for us quite often. We had been looking forward to the time when she would be back with us in Sunday School. Each of us will miss her. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

  3. Sweet Nanncy was such a joy. We met at West Junior and went on to Waco High. Her life had not been easy, but you would never know by the light in her eyes and the love she gave to everyone, even at an early age.

We reconnected on Facebook after many years and yes, there was still that beautiful joy and love shining from her precious face. Nanncy’s faith and her mission to share His loving word every day lifted up many people.

Nanncy to me, means love, kindness, courage, angel…..miss you dear friend. And my sympathies to her family and friends.

  4. Thank you so much. We are so grateful to everyone at Park Lake for their kind words and support during this difficult time.
